RoseHas anyone heard of this program?
Does anyone know if Allen offer this or a similiar program?
What I'm told is,"Moms or dads and their kids play together for approx. 45 min. Then the parents have coffee and talk together while the kids are in a somewhat loosely structured preschool type atmosphere, playing together."
This is something I'm very interested in and any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rose
richardbI would suggest contacting Tim Carrol at AISD to find out if this type of program exist in our district.
AvonMomRose,

I am familiar with ECFE...it is a state funded program in Minnesota, probably other states as well. Allen has a program called Parents as Teachers but I am not sure that is the same thing. i know there is a program through the district that someone comes out to your home and works with you child through age 3...but I was told it only applies to firstborn...I am not sure if I am correct with the info or not. There is also the Allen Early Childhood PTA...but this is more of an activity group with a babysitting co-op, playgroups etc...If you area stay at home mom there is always the MOMS Club...which does the co-op, playgroups, field trips etc...

Hope I have been somewhat helpful

RoseHello and first, Thanks for the replies to my post.
I'm happy to report that March 1st, after standing in a long line, outside in the cold rain, since 6am, that I successfully registered my daughter in a Learn and Playday Program within our school district. Myself and the Mom behind me got the last 2 spots!!! I walked out at 8:45am in tears of relief and excitement.

An added bonus, I noticed a familiar face about 15 parents ahead of me. She turned out to be a close coworker of mine from 7 years ago. She's married, had twins, my daughter age, and lives here in town!!!!! We're getting together to introduce our kids.Looks like they'll be classmates.

Everything happens for a reason in its own time.

A friend of mine was going to get in line around 2am and just happened to drive by at 9:30PM and saw a line had already begin to form. She and another mom went home, got their raincoats, made a makeshift tent and sit up all night playing cards. Talk about Moms going the extra mile. It's great you saw an old friend and renewed acquaitances. Everything does happen for a reason when time and place fall in line with each other.
tam555I am very happy with the Allen ISD.
