[This message has been edited by rock761 (edited February 12, 2002).] Even in the older age groups I set up a nightmare of a chart and try to rotate subs at about the right time - but it depends on the game situation and when you can actually make the subs. The subbing above is not as bad as it looks. Just wait about 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter and swap out the players at the first opportunity by getting the refs attention on a goal kick, throwin, or goal.rock761 ASA has given us 9 players on our U-6 soccer team and we play 4 ten minute quarters. Anyone have any suggestions on how 9 players can get equal playing time? ASA didnt'. AR3years rock:
Tough to make it exactly equal by sub'ing only at quarters! But I think the rules allow free substitution in the 2nd and 4th quarters to try to even it out for those with 9 or more players. Free substitution, for those that don't know, is at your own throwin, any goal kick or after a goal. Intent is to try to equalize playing time.
You could do this:
Divide the 2nd and 4th quarters in half and stagger playing times. Below is a sample chart with P1..P9 being players, Q1-Q4 quarters. "1" designates a whole quarter play time, "H" designates either the first or last half of a quarter. "-" designates not playing that quarter of half-quarter. This has five players playing 2 full quarters and 4 playing 1-1/2 quarters. Next game change out the ones that played only 1-1/2 to allow them to play 2. Hope the chart comes out on the forum page properly.
Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4
P1 1 - H - - H
P2 1 - H - - H
P3 1 - H - H
P4 1 - - - H
P5 - H - - 1
P6 - H - 1 - -
P7 - H - 1 - -
P8 - H - 1 - H
P9 - - H 1 H -
Hope this helps, and thanks for coaching!rock761 THANKS(!) for the suggestion. I like the chart and will try to work with it. I think we can sub as needed as we don't have ref's until next fall.
