We don't want Sage again because everytime we needed repair, we had to wait for them to get a SWB tech to take care of it. Does anyone know of any other services before we call SBC?VGotway We've had SW Bell, Sage, AT&T; (now Comcast) and now we need to switch again. Ever since Comcast took over, we keep losing our dial tone -- even if we are on the phone! Very annoying to be hearing about someone's new baby and realize you are talking to yourself! They've been unable to fix it despite numerous "trouble tickets" so we are fed up. jenniferd We had Verizon while living in Allen. Never had any problems. BCingU Sorry, the lines are still SWB's no matter who 'provides' the service. They just lease them to other companies, hence the ads they put on the television showing inept repair guys in business suits. For a variety of reasons we are on The Neighborhood by MCI. We have had Sage and SWB as well with no problems. Just a thought, is there anyone using cellular as their 'regular' phone service instead of being wired in? VGotway We thought about that but it won't work for my fax machine. AT&T;/Comcast is digital and does not use SWB. Unfortunately, that means whichever "not very helpful" repair guy they send is the only hope you have. They are coming out tomorrow morning and this is their last chance to fix things. The phone was the whole time I was at work yesterday! Couldn't even get through to voice mail! campbellfam I was surprised by your post, Veronica. We've had AT&T; local for over 2 years now and other than a bumpy start with billing, we've hardly had any trouble.
When they changed their name to Comcast we lost service a couple times but when I called to report it, they were already fixing it and it's been weeks now without trouble.
I once got a tip that if you have trouble with a company and don't seem to be getting anywhere through the usual customer service reps you should ask for the advertising or PR dept (call or e-mail). As these departments shudder at the thought of getting a bad reputation they might light a fire under cust serv. Just a thought.
Hope everything works out for you.
