I am looking at the options for TV and internet access. Of course my options for TV are satilite or cable. Does anybody have any experience with both concerning the number of channels and the price of each. I was also wondering if there was some sort of package possibly for cable and cable internet. I have not found any so far from internet searches and phone calls. Thanks for all your help. James High-Speed Internet Connect approx $43 for cable TV subscribers, $53 for non TV subscribers. Cable download speed approx 2300 KB http://speedtest.airmail.net Quite fast [This message has been edited by Gary (edited June 24, 2004).] [This message has been edited by Gary (edited June 24, 2004).] Its quite comical.. I look at it as a reflection of yourself. Maybe you get bad customer service because thats what you expect! [This message has been edited by allensince1979 (edited June 24, 2004).] I have enjoyed Dish Network.. I love the PVR feature. No more commercials! "I am ashamed at how many people will jump on the band wagon to dump on a business, especially without all the facts. Americans should know first hand how she said he said rumors can destroy. I suggest before you decide to voice your opinions maybe you should "get the truth." Now you go after Ms Alyce. If you don't like that some people complain here don't read the messages. Your approach to joining these forums is a very nice approach from a new member. I'm sure your comments will be well received here. Like you said.. if you don't like what I post... DON'T READ THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY.. MR. MARK Lets please stay on topic which is: Your opinion...cable or satellite. Eden makes an excellent about using private email. Please do that.jamesmc Hello, sirhotwheels I have had my last cable anything. I would go sat. but thats just me. I have heard good things about Direct TV. I have Dish Network and I am going to make the change myself. I wouldn't let their cable monkey's install anything. I would spend the money and have the pro's do it. Wire does not go on the outside of a house. It is suppost to be inside an run down the inside of the walls. I have also been told the speeds of Direct TV's internet is very fast and very good, save for bad storms. Check them out. I would tell you what I think of Comcast but I'll be good. allensince1979 We have both our cable TV and Internet service through comcast. Both together run over 150.00 a month. I don't like their customer service and would not recommend them but it doesn't seem like there's any other choice. We have more than 3 TVs and I think with satellite you can only get 3 hook ups and for the Internet, cable has the fastest connection. sirhotwheels Cable is not the fastest, T1 would be but I don't think SBC is going to run fiber to your house unless you got some BIG bucks. Can't go faster than light speed. If you do go with cable you will need a real fire wall. Not that BS that comes on most OTC PC's. Hope this helps. Gary Expanded Basic Cable approx $45, about 60 channels, no pay-per-view, no premium channels. PPV converter box extra.

Eden I am fairly new to this website.. and have been reading alot of the posts. It seems a few "posters" here constantly complain about customer service. allensince1979 A few month's back our Internet service was extremely slow. I had Comcast out 4 times, one appointment I waited and no one showed. Each time they promised me the next person would be able to fix the problem, each time I would get the same response, "I don't work on that, we'll have to put a call in and get someone else to come out" then I would wait another week. After putting up with this for at least 2 month's it was finally fixed. If that isn't poor customer service I don't know what is.
I also want to say that I know when that bill is due each month Comcast better have my payment or they would shut my service.
I have spent years working in retail and with the public and have always believed in being honest with people and treating others how you would want to be treated. I don't see that a lot anymore, people are left on hold for an hour at a time, have to go through a fifteen minute animated machine to finally get to speak to a real person. People are given jobs to do that have not been properly trained and a lot of times they really have no idea what their doing and just don't care, people just don't seem to follow through and do what their suppose to do. Then when the customer is disappointed or complains their the one with the problem? I don't understand that. When I have been treated poorly as a customer I will do my best to let others know so hopefully they can avoid the same frustration or at least make their own informed decision, When something is done professionally I make sure to thank them.MsAlyce Eden, Maybe it just seems that everyone complains all the time. I like to think that we have shared good comments too. The nature of this kind of posting board is to help others not fall into the same "pit" of bad service or products, I don't think we try to be negative.
Maybe you read only negative because that's what you expect. (See that can work for everyone!)
On topic, I had Direct Tv (many moons ago) and loved it, but Dish Network called told me I would be able to get internet hook up soon so I switched. Now almost 5 years latter Dish still has no internet and I have found out Direct TV does, think it's time to switch back. I believe we had less strom outages with Direct but that could have been because the dish was installed better.Nando The Dish blows cable, both digital and analog, away. No comparison. You get a much better picture and cd quality sound. Now if they just do something about the rain fades.
Eden Well Hello MsAlyce. You need to read my post again.. Nowhere does it read "MsAlyce all you do is complain" ought not take things so personal....... that was MY opinion. MarkH Well hello Eden. You wrote in another subject, Eden Hi Mark nice to meet ya.
I must say.. I never went after Ms. Alyce personally. I never called anyone out by name... I was replying to her post. Allen is growing and from what I've seen you are going to find that the "smalltown mentality" doesn't work for everyone! Seems only a few post anyway.. now I see why.. What I post is MY opinion.. sorry if it does not conform to what you WANT to read. That's life!
(any other nasty remarks.. lets try to keep them private my email is available look forward to hearing from you wonderful people)Webmaster Hello Folks: Maurice Satellite (Dish or DTV) both offer so much more for less money than cable ever could. You don't see pay hikes as often as you will with cable and (at least to my experiences with DTV) satellite companies offer better customer service than Comcast does. I had comcast for years in NJ and will never go back. I just wish DTV would offer the PVR option that Dish does without the monthly fee. Only reason I haven't switched is NFL Network. lol That goes over to Dish as part of regular programming and Dish will have a new customer. sirhotwheels Hello Eden.
I cant stand bad customer service, it drives me nut. Comcast is one of those companies that have had their chance and failed. By the way, Allen, for the most part is a small town. Some of us like it that way and will hope it stays that way.
