knead_to_no This is my first year to grow mums. My plants look very healthy. I was just wondering when they will start to bloom. I was told that they bloom in fall and sometimes in the spring. Thanks for your help. denisew Your mums should start blooming anyday now if they have not already started. They do best if planted in full sun and they will bloom in the spring. When their spring blooming is finished, cut them back to grow and bloom again in the fall. You will want to delay the fall blooming by pinching off the new flower buds that form in the summer until mid-August. Then let the buds form and they will start blooming towards the end of September or beginning of October.

Allen Garden Clubbjcg89 Should mums be blooming right about now? I have a few that look as if they're ready and some that don't. denisew Yes, they will bloom in the spring, then when they are done with that flush of blooms, cut them back by about half and they will bloom again in the fall. Since we have such a long growing season, they get confused and don't know when its fall, so they will blooms twice!
