roprattALL,
Having lived in Allen, and in the McDermott/Alma region for the last 3 years. I have seen, no less than 4 major accidents at the McDermott and Tatum/BH intersection, adding one more yesterday, October 13, 2001. Would anyone like to help me in requesting a review of the intersection and requesting a Traffic Signal be installed. To help traffic on McDermott, a trigged light. I am aware of the light just 2 blocks to the West at Twins Creeks, but with the increasing volume of cars that disregard the posted speed limit, what else can be done. In addition, I would like to see Allen PD step up traffic speed control on McDermott, between Watters Rd. and Custer Rd., cars and commercial trucks moving at 60-70 mph is just too fast.

vrsThe City Engineer's office (John Baumgartner, 972-727-0178) is responsible for all of the city infrastructure - including traffic lights. Perhaps you have already checked, but it might be good to give them a call to see what the master plan for that intersection is. It may be that there is already a light planned, just not yet installed, or there may be a legal (proximity) obstacle to the light. Just a thought....

richardbPeter Tian is the Traffic Engineer for the city. It's his responsibility to order and conduct traffic studies for recommendations to be made to TXDOT. For a point of reference, there are certain requirements by TXDOT to justify the installation of a fully operational signal light and the intersection of Waters Crossing and McDermott doesn't qualify, so the blinking yellow is all that is allowed.
