I am just concerned that one day I am going to wake up to the sound of ground being broken for a gas station. Since I am a new homeowner and new to the area I was also wondering how I can get more involved in the city and what happens as Allen grows. As far as getting involved, there are several Boards and Commissions which can be served on. Check out the city website to see exactly what they are and where your interest might be. Unfortunately, interviews were just conducted and all open spots filled for this year. Each year in July, applications are sent out in the water statements and interviews are conducted in late August. There are many volunteer organizations, such as the Allen Commuity Outreach and service clubs such as Rotary and Kiwanis which one can be involved in. Also, if you have children in AISD, there is a very active PTA. The home page of this website has many organizations listed. I'm sure there are other opportunities I've failed to mention, but you will find Allen a community which you will certainly enjoy becoming involved in. Good luck and welcome to Allen. [This message has been edited by jenniferd (edited October 24, 2001).]jenniferd I was curious to know what detonates a particular area "residential" versus "commercial". While looking at the Allen Zone Maps online last night I noticed that an particular area beside our home and across the street are designated "LR". At this particular time there is a house located on the lot next to our home (in the LR section). richardb Jennifer:
Not knowing the exact location you're referring to, it's hard to comment. What is the address of the "LR" lot you mentioned?jenniferd Sorry, the location is right next to the Day Care Center on the corner of Bethany and Malone. Thanks for your information :-)
