Cats were our problem. The neighborhood cats seemed to regard my front beds as some sort of exclusive feline boudoir. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a cat-hater, but if I wanted my front beds rearranged every night into gopher mounds filled with cat poop, I'd get my own cat. When we redid the landscape a while back, we replaced the pine bark with lava rock and now the cats have moved on. How happy I am that my problems are so minor. I can't tell you how many times my dogs and I have been nearly run down by bicyclists riding on the side walk -- especially when they go at a high rate of speed. Unless the City of Allen has designated sidewalks as usable by bicyclists, there are many people breaking that law in our neighborhood.c3lost All this pet talk has me thinking; in my former home dog owners had to clean up after their dogs. If they walked them down the street, park wherever. Everyone carried a bag with them and took care of business. I take it there is no such ordinace here as we are constantly dodging doggie doo. Don't get me wrong I love animals. I just think it is right to clean up after your pet. Any thoughts? richardb Last year the council adopted many revisions updating city ordinances and one of them was a "Pooper-scooper" ordinance. It is law and if you see a violation occuring, especially if it is ongoing, they should be turned in. vrs I see most of my neighbors carrying plastic bags as they walk their pets these days - a change from the past - so the ordinance must be having some effect. I appreciate their consideration. Stacy F That's funny. I never see anyone carrying a plastic bag in my neighborhood. I have watched animals poop in yards & the dog owner walks on leaving the mess behind. I see this all the time at Bethany Lakes Park. I have also watched many times dog owners letting their dogs run wild in the park chasing people & the ducks. Isn't this against the law as well? Who is around to inforce it though? If I was to appreoach the person they would more than likely have a foul response to me. Meanwhile, people & wildlife are at stake of being bitten. Some pet owners have no regard for others. No law is going to change that. c3lost Thanks for the info. Yes all pet owners should be responsible dog and cat! It is just a minor annoyance, but I just wondered because I have small children who like to run ahead and sometimes YEACH!!!!! ElGuapo Texas law states that Bicycles have the same rights and responsibilities as motoroists (Sec. 551.101) and can only ride bicyles on the street or paths specified for use for bicyclists.
