To take care of registration you can go into Plano. Take Greenville to Park Blvd and go west on Park. After the railroad tracks there are some office building on the left. Turn into those and it is in the building in the very back. For your license: Take 75 to Parker Rd. Go west on Parker. When you pass Custer you will see an old shopping center on your right. Drive around the side or back until you see DPS or Driver License. You might want to call to verify that the driver license office is still in the same place. The last time I went to either of these I had to wait in some pretty long lines (I now make my hubby do the registration). Good luck! To get to the DPS in McKinney, exit ElDorado, turn right, and follow the signs to head toward the airport. The DPS is on the right, just past a cemetary. These directions aren't great as I don't know the names of the cross streets, but both locations are easy to find. I've never waited in a long line to register my car, and the line at DPS in McKinney has always been much shorter than Plano. Go when you have a little time. Bring your sense of humor and a paperback. It can be a LONG wait. I went to the one on Parker in Plano once, just to see if it would be any better. Wait was about the same. NOTE NOTE NOTE - While you're getting your driver's license, be sure to REGISTER TO VOTE!c3lost Where is it you get a new drivers license and also where do you transfer a title to get Texas plates? Is there somewhere in Allen or do we need to go to McKinney? Lajennifer C3lost, I was wondering the same thing. Someone told me if you get on Greenville and go into Mckinney there is a place there then theres another one in Plano but they said it was to hard to find if you didn't know exactly where you were going. I've been here almost 2 years and still havn't changed anything over, maybe someone here knows the exact location. Thanks! VGotway I got my updated license over the internet - yes, it is legit. I don't remember the web address though! It would be through the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Veronicastarrlac To register your car in McKinney, go to the tax office located on University Dr (Hwy 380). Take 75 to the University Dr exit, turn right. The office is a couple of blocks passed Walmart on the right. vrs starrlac is very close on the McKinney Driver's License location. Simplest way is actually to take 121 N (either north on 75 and exit or all the way up Hwy 5) and drive into McKinney on 121. Just past the cemetery (!) you'll see a sign pointing to the right that says "Driver's License" Turn right there. Office is just down the street on the right. starrlac Also remember to take your proof of insurance. When I was there last, I don't know how many people I saw who didn't read the signs, waited in line a long time, only to get to the front of the line without their insurance card and had to go back to the end of the line once they brought the card with them. juan This the D.P.S. web site: www.txdps.state.tx.us/
This site offers a great deal of information.
You can renew your drivers license online but you have to already have a TX DL.Lajennifer I found all the info I needed on the Allen Online Web Page. Just scroll down to Texas Directory and it is listed as Texas Dep of Public Safety. Guess we should have read the Allen online web page better we could have found the info ourselves. I feel dumb now... But thanks for all the replies!!! c3lost Thanks for all the info! Don't worry I will be registering to vote! I think it is so awesome we have that right. My young boys are ready to vote too (not old enough) but at their age already understand what a privlidge it is for us!
