At home, in the neighborhood, and throughout the community its a day that the whole family can take action 4 R Future, which is the theme for this years Allen Recycles Day. The annual event, set for November 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City Hall parking lot and rotunda, encourages all residents to reduce, reuse, recycle and rebuy. Allen Recycles Day is sponsored by Keep Allen Beautiful in cooperation with the City of Allen. Residents can celebrate recycling by clearing out clutter and donating items that can be reused or recycled by a variety of participating organizations. The event also features a community-wide clean up initiative for roadways and waterways. Youth will have the opportunity to work with the Allen Garden Club and Keep Allen Beautiful in fall beautification projects. Beautification projects will be modified this year due to drought conditions. Volunteer clean up efforts will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with youth participant projects ending at 11 a.m. Volunteer groups can register in advance to coordinate efforts for cleaning up a particular area. Trash bags, gloves and volunteer vests will be provided. Advance registration can be made by calling the City of Allen Community Services Department at 214-509-4500 before October 28.
