Have you checked with them lately? I live so far from the Central Office that I could only get the standard speed DSL. Now they say they can wire up a Remote Terminal (for free) and I can get the high speed (6M/down) DSL.

Haven't checked with them but I live far enough from the CO that DSL was never an option. :( Will check again though, maybe they've added it since.

I have SBC DSL and renewed my service for another year last week. I was unable to get the faster speed because I live 1.2 miles away from the Central Office. I called them today about getting a remote Terminal and was told that was not even available in my area and had no date when it might be available. I also asked about the Fiber Optic Internet and was told it was planned for 2004 and then May 2005 and now they don even have a clue when Allen might get it. I do know that before we can get it they will have to run the Fiber Optic Cables first which I have not seen in or around my area. The person I talked to said it could be still years away before we get it but she had no time table for this area. I guess if you want the super fast internet you need to get GTE or Comcast.

Same here...I had SBC when I moved here, but CO was too far away. So now I have Comast's 8Mbps service, but they are rolling out upgrades (PowerBoost) to make it 16Mbps -- for the same price I'm paying now. Sure, Comcast is a little pricy, but I've had the best service from them than any other provider.
