DOCTOR WHO
      #25320 - 03/19/06 01:39 AM

Calling all Doctor Who fans....He's back !!!

It seems like the last time I talked about the Doctor on here there were a few fans on here besides me.

The Sci-Fi channel has started a brand (kind of) new series. It comes on every Friday night and is repeated several times during the week. The series premier was last night (17MAR06). The reason I said "kind of" new is I think it started airing in the UK last year so we are seeing 2005 episodes. I noticed they have started 2006 episodes in the UK.

They have updated the show. Of course they have a new Doctor but they don't have the shaky sets. I remember on some of the original series, the Doctor would be running down the hall of a space ship and the walls would shake. It is still one of those Sci-Fi shows that you don't take too seriously (kind of like Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy) and is fun to watch. Because of new technology, they have some great new aliens!

Started to watch this because Friday nights is one that I actually sit down and watch Sci Fi Friday. Don't watch much else during the week. But I just turned it off. Guess I don't get the English humor that much because I found it obnoxious. Maybe it got better later but the first 30 minutes totally left me more interested in petting my cat. I know some other shows that I didn't like in the beginning but after it grew, it improved. I found Star Trek Voyager to be that way. The first several shows I didn't like at all (watched because my daughter liked it). Probably lost a number of viewers that never came back. But as Captain Janeway settled in and they made some modifications to her look and demeanor, it got much better. So I'll probably take another look at Dr Who in the future.
