There is a story of an architect who designed a campus, but indicated that no sidewalks were to be poured between the buildings. After a year, the grass was worn down along footpaths between the buildings where people normally walked. And then the architect said - there, pour the concrete on those footpaths. That's where people are going to walk regardless of where the sidewalks are.
McDermott ends across from the cemetery at the "Y" in the road at Karen's Hallmark. Main Street continues on from there. But it seems only we the dinosaurs realize that. Maybe Council should just change the name.........

Back on the subject of the CVS pharmacy. I find it hard to believe that they can make money opening a new store so close to the existing one at 2551 and Bethany. Obviously their models show that they can but I sure hope we don't end up with an empty shell in 6 months.

That is a Walgreens, not a CVS. They are competitors.

Even then, there is a CVS at McDermott and Greenville not two minutes away. And one on Stacy and Angel. Does not make Economical sense to me.

I think they should change the name to McDermott as well. Makes it easier for everyone and the exit on 75 says McDermott not Main St. Leave Main St. name for the old downtown section.
Who knows someone on the city council?

I see your point, but the business owners along East Main who have directory listings and stationery and checks and business cards and weblinks and so on and so forth may have an opinion about having their address changed.

I still tend to refer to Greenville as Highway 5, but always correct myself if I am talking to someone who hasn't lived here very long.
Boy that is all we need is another drug store - regardless if it is Walgreen's or CVS. I think they're both expensive and rarely shop at either one - maybe once or twice a year.

Main Street has had businesses on it for a much longer time than McDermott. :D You can't change things and confuse those of us who still remember Wal-Mart where Brookshires is and were there for opening day at Braum's (I was in elem school at Rountree).
