Is there a place in Allen that my son can ride his dirt bike?

Many years since this touring Bike dude hung out around MX stuff, haha, but I wanna help. Dadburnit...it takes so many times for me to get a post on here, I wanna hit the track, start jumpin', do a backflip....not! Okay let me downshift back to the starting line. Some area riders will adapt open lands to their need to ride. It's almost impossible to find open range here now, or a lot that isn't owned by developers, so beware. Try the local Bike shops all around here, as they either know the Clubs and Events, or have flyers out on these. I'll keep the knobby tires on long enough to find ya somebody, haha.

It's not in Allen but at one time there was a place out by the Lake Lavon spillway. It's been a few years since I have been out there but it may still exist

I used to go to the races out there, and no...we don't need to know when that was, haha.

Hey! There is a track in Sherman great for kids. You can become a member for a cheap yearly fee and they will give you a gate key. The key can get in any time and sometimes have the track all to yourself and even camp. Here is the website www.Northfortycyclepark.com

There's a place on highway 902, west of Collinsville that looks like a good spot. It used to be a catfish farm until excessive heat killed off the entire stock a couple of years ago. The owner then turned the land into a motocross track.

If you're interested, take 380 west to 377, then north on 377 to Collinsville and west on 902 toward Lake Kiowa. The track will be a few miles down on your left.

Hmmm, that's good to know. Some of my co-workers live up in there, and I'll ask them about it.

Check with Fence Buff on this topic. He is kind of the guru of Moto-cross and dirt biking in the Allen area.

Thanks for all of the replies! We race at a lot of different tracks all over the place. I was kind of hoping to find a place within the Allen city limits that we could either ride an existing track or build one (a few obstacles) to practice on. My son wants to ride everyday and the run out to Boondoxxx cuts into our ride time. Plus they only turn the lights on Wed and Thur nights. I would even be willing to help out around someones land doing other small chores for use of the land (dirt).

Yeah, I think that would be hard to do, in most city limits in the Metroplex.

Hey Outkast, it's good to know another rider is in the area! As you know Boondoxxx is the closest place around. If they would build us a bridge straight across the lake it would only be a 10-15 minute drive! We need to hook up sometime, I am always looking for people to ride with.
Thanks for the plug Mikee!

Mikee - I dont ride anymore. I sold both my bikes to put all my efforts into Jr. He is 9 and this is his first full season of racing. He is loving it! Do you race?

I raced back in the day, 1979-1982. 25 years later I've piled up plenty of responsibility, so I try to keep a lid on it. I have a business to run. It's hard to sell fences from a hospital bed! So I mostly just ride for fun. 06CRF450X

I sold my '05 400EX and '05 250F so I could spend more time watching the kid ride. Its amazing how fast kids are these days. Since posting this question I have come to grips with the fact that unless I buy my own land and build a track I will have to make the run back and forth at night to practice. Were looking now for a house or land. Sad part is we will have to leave Allen...

It's all good! Riding is a great thing for kids to do these days. But don't give up there Dad.....riding is good exercise too! Saddle up & get moving!
