My sister and brother-in-law live in Creston Iowa. A tornado hit there last night with no injuries reported. He is the head surgeon and is head of the operations at the hospital and clinic. They are the hub for several rural communities. The roof was torn off the hospital and local towns helped evacuate all the patients to other hospitals. They were just ready to open the new cancer wing and dialysis center. My sister said it was just sheets of rain hitting really hard. The tornado was embedded in the rain and was not detected by radar so there were no warnings issued. Very lucky there were no injuries or deaths. Alot of damage to the high school, middle school and community college. A friend of hers was in a townhouse playing cards with 3 friends. They heard a bang and before they could get up from the table, the roof blew off and the rain came pouring in. Always strange stories from people who were just really lucky.
