I want to get my hair cut and have no idea which salon is better than the other. I don't think I can afford the Salon at Eaton Court but don't want to go to a fast walk-in place either. My hair is just about to my waist and want to cut to shoulder length and donate it for wigs for cancer victims. Does anyone know of a place that does that?

I don't have a recommendation for a salon, I go to my cousin who is training as a stylist at Ogle in Dallas. But here is a link to Locks for Love with information about how to donate your hair Locks for Love

Great Clips will cut your hair free if you're donating it to Locks of Love, at least they did last year when my daughter donated 13 inches of her hair to their organization.

Hair Tech 972-727-1801 on the corner or Greenville and McDermott (next to the pizza place). I don't think you have to spend 50.00 and up for a good cut you just have to find the right person. Ask for Tonya, I think you'll be pleased.

Tonya is fabulous. Best haircut I've had in years and years.

Does Tonya at Hair Tech do long thick curly hair? I'm desperate for a trim (I've done it myself the last few times and couldn't straighten it if I wanted to now since it's uneven).
Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.

Will work for shoes!

I donated my hair a couple of years ago and went to Phancy's because they mail it off for you and I didn't have to go to the post office.

My friend had her hair cut to donate at a different salon and they handed her the hair back to mail in herself.

So you if you don't want to have to box it up and mail it yourself, you need to ask the salon before you have it cut.

Thanks for donating!

I went to see Tonja on Thursday. She is very nice and I like my hair. I will definitely come to see her again.

Sorry it took me so long to post. I went to Hair Tech on April 23 and Tonya was fantastic. It's a small place with about 6 chairs but the people are really friendly. Tonya cut about a 14" braid off my hair. She knew I was donating it to Pantene - Wigs for women and she cut it for free. The site for Pantene is: http://www.pantene.com/en_US/beautifullength s/inde... I had sent for a kit - not sure if they do it anymore and the postage was included.

My husband went to Tonya the following day and she cut his hair exactly how he wanted it. We have both been back this month, June, for another cut from her. I would recommend her for sure. Thanks for referring me to her.

Debbie

I went to Tonya a couple of weeks ago after reading the posts in this thread. Thank you, thank you to those who suggested her--she gave me the best haircut I've had in years! I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist.

I hope she doesn't get so busy that can't work me in anymore. For anyone looking for someone good for highlights or color she is just as good at that as she is haircuts. See you don't have to spend a lot of money to get your hair done right you just have to find someone who takes the time to do a good job.

Ok I just went to Aristo-Cuts on Allen Heights and Main and had my hair done with Judy. She did the best job and my hair has not looked this good in over ten years! I hate going to those salons where the room is rented out becuase the stylists are always on the phone. Someone actually referred me to Judy a long time ago but i just never went in, and after a terrible appointment with salons on the creek, i happened to be driving by and remembered. This woman did my highlights in 1.5 hours (and i have very long and thick hair) she works really fast and did an awesome job. Definitely try her. I have not had her for a haircut yet but she only charges 25$ for a hair cut. i am sure she does great haircuts because she worked at visible changes in collin creek mall for ten years. Anyway, i know how hard it is to find a decent stylist and affordable (my full highlights for 2 colors cost me 85$). Its so expensive at other salons, the last person who did my hair charged me 150 and did an absolutely horrible job!

So if you want to go there, its aristocuts in allen on allen heights right next to dominoes and her name is judy.
