We have been blessed with our first child a baby girl who was born last Tuesday and is now just a week old. She is in good health with the exception that she will not open one of her little eyes. Her Pediatrician referred us to an Opthamologist which we visited today. Both my husband and I were not pleased with the way the doctor treated our newborn and the way the apointment was handeled. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good eye doctor for infants?

Congratulations on your baby girl!

My daughter isn't an infant, but my husband will only let me take her to David Weakley at Children's Medical Center Legacy Campus -- 972-730-5437. He's great with us and we really like his staff.
Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.

Will work for shoes!

Not sure who you used but our daughter had congenital cataracts and we were told that Dr David Stager Jr in Plano was the only one to see. He was great for us, very calm with both our young daughter and both crazy parents. His father David Stager Sr is still practicing in Dallas and several friends see and like him as well.

Dr. Stager Senior worked on me, and I'm very happy with him. He's one of the best in the country.
Two plus two equals five, for sufficiently large values of two.

My daughter had a blocked tear duct when she was an infant. We went to Stager senior and he fixed her right up.

My son has been under the care of three different pediatric ophthalmologists here since he was 2. The first two, although recommended to us, did not have the child and/or parent attention we needed. He was diagnosed with strabismus and the treatments/glasses/patchi ng wasn't working. His eyes were getting worse and we had no "plan of action" definied.

Dr. Stager, Sr. was very nice but he is older and although he might have been really great with kids in the past, he frightened our 2-year-old.

When our son was 3-1/2, we switched to Dr. Alan Davis. He was great with our son, but seemed to not have time to talk to parents. We were concerned about options/outcome/timing. Our son's eye problems were starting to affect his learning, and we just wanted to know what the timeline might be. What was his prognosis? Basic simple normal stuff. All we got was "come back in 6 months."

We went to Modern Family Vision to get a new glass prescription filled and Dr. Leazure there asked why our son hadn't had eye surgery yet. (He was five at this time.) We told her our doctor hadn't even mentioned it (although we had asked.)

She referred us to another pediatric opthamologist - Dr. Serena Wang - who is at Children's Medical Center Hospital in Plano. She was a BLESSING!!!! She is not just a doctor, but also a MOM of a child the same age as I have. She is great with the children, but also the parents. She immediately talked to us about decisions/options, etc. Gave us all the facts and helped us decide what to do. The follow-up care has been equally wonderful. Her staff is friendly and nice. Great with children (which you think would be a no-brainer for such doctors, but we have found that isn't always the case.).

Thanks everyone for your input. We had her two week appt yesterday with her Pediatrician and told him about our visit with the eye doctor. He still seems to think that she will be ok and that it should correct itself on its own. However, if their is no noticeable improvement he suggested visiting another eye doctor. I will look into all these doctors you guys mentioned.
