OK so this is too late for most goblins, but I was just now reminded of it.
Coming home from a "ride to eat" with a motorcycle group, I passed the Yamaha dealer on Hwy5. They're trying to draw in customers to their Haunted Forest. I knew of this but filed it behind more current adventures. They use the woods behind their site for this haunting experience. Perhaps it can be on your radar for next year?

Thanks. Somewhere in my truck is a note on it but I didn't recall. Maybe there will be enough dry weather to take a haunted forest trip soon? Thanks.

That is right about the location of the Comanche massacre in the 1830's. They may well be playing off of that for the scares.

You are so correct about the nearby site of one of the last known attacks in the area. Could add a tidbit about that but it would be a morph from the haunted forest. Maybe a PT later on about that.
Anyone going to this forest event?

Nope!!! I am a big fat scaredy cat who still has bad dreams. I do not think my husband will look kindly upon the stuffed animals reappearing in the bed to keep me safe at night!

I think my biggest concern about going into a "haunted forest" is the possibility of coming out having brushed up against poison ivy. It would be my luck to get into that stuff since I'm allergic. Oh, and I don't like being scared either.

We aren't fans of haunted forests or houses after what happened to us at the haunted house at South Fork some years ago. We were going through the building with 2 scared little girls who wanted to get out. My husband looked up to find a sign that said, "exit" so he had us go out that door. Well, it must have been an exit for the employees as it was not the main exit and we ended up out in some corn field or something in the dark and couldn't get back in. Talk about horror, I was scared to death as we really didn't know what direction we were facing to get out of there.

Great points. This one is likely for older kiddies anyway. And your story reveals some concerns with many of these seasonal events. But some can be fun.

Years ago, my brother-in-law, who had recently returned from the Vietnam War a little jumpy, was going through one of those live-person-in-costume haunted houses in New Jersey, when someone jumped out to scare them in a narrow passage. He did what came naturally and slugged the guy. Oops.

Yikes, yep I've seen and heard tales like that. One at my firehouse I would share privately. Hmmm...it did kinda make the house haunted for a minute???
