It will be an AMC soon enough. Just give it time. :)
Instead of trying to convince the other side they are wrong, why don't we come together to fix the things we all agree are wrong. We waste too much time and energy arguing when we should be united.

I usually visit VoF once a week and for now I imagine the low traffic is probably not what some of the early tennants anticipated. I kind of liken this situation to The Shops at Willow Bend which struggled at first due to proximity to Stonebriar, 9/11 and over estimating the demographics in that area. But now the mall is still no Stonebriar but it's seems to have found it's niche and is doing better.

However I do believe in 3 years if it can weather the current conditions that the VoF will thrive. I expect more tennants will continue to leave Collin Creek and will ultimately relocate up north to VoF. The Container Store at Collin Creek will be closing soon after the VoF location opens. Probably a few more retailers will have to want to relocate from Allen Preminum Outlet to VoF but APO does so well that for now it's probably impacting the success of VoF.

Surprisingly Old Navy has a banner in the development and they have a store up the road in McKinney. Perhaps that will close eventually but in my opinion they need to get a bookstore at VoF. I was so disappointed when I saw the list of tennants last year and notice that Barnes & Nobles was no longer listed.

Although I do have my concerns about some of the upscale restaurants opening in the development like La Duni and Ocean Blue considering that Bailey's Prime Plus appears to not be busy. Those restaurants are a little more pricey than your Cheddar's or Chili's. The need more reasonabily priced non-wait service restaurants in the development for families. Right now until mid to late June it's The Purple Cow and they are wait service restaurant. They needs some Charley's Grill Subs, Sbarros or any kinda cheap fast service restaurant for the shoppers and workers at the stores.

But I think if they can get the right mix of reasonably priced retailers in the next 3 years that it will be an ultimate success.

I'm hoping for it to be successfully because quite frankly Stonebriar is getting to the point like how people in Arlington feel about The Parks Mall being so crowded that I don't want to deal with the traffic.

lionhart, good points, for sure. I haven't been to Bailey's as yet (everyone, please re-read that before starting in on me :) ), but from what I see in reviews here and on Yelp!, it looks like Bailey's and some of the others (e.g. Dodie's) need to get their service and product in order for them to be able to thrive. I will definitely try Bailey's, but for the prices they charge, they probably only get one shot at success for me.

I can't wait for Whole Foods to open; it'll be interesting to see how that affects traffic. I understand that Fairview has some issues with the exterior aesthetics and will be making some changes; I'm not sure whether that will affect the opening date or not (though it looks great to me from the outside).

Finally, Dodie's looks to be jumping every night that there's an Allen Americans game, so something is going right at least some of the time there. :)

Yep, the Website for a few weeks said "Nov" now it says fall which means maybe it will open anytime between September and November.

On another note; I went to the Radio Disney Beach Party and the goodie bag had a new Village at Allen/Fairview folding directory brochure. It had Rally House Texas (a sports apparel) store opening to the left of the Penny's entrance facing Gold Class Cinemas.

Gold Class Cinema offers a half price menu on Tuesday nights that includes food and beverages. I went to several of the preview showings and tried several menu items. Wasn't really impressed with anything - the artisan chicken pizza was my favorite thing. The burgers are just too messy. I was surprised to learn that they reuse the courtesy blankets. The 3-D glasses have to be sterilized between use, why not the blankets? The night I got a blanket, every person in the auditorium got one, it was FREEZING in there (they offer pillows too), but after the movie they rolled them up and took them to another auditorium (the employees were commenting on how they ran out of blankets).

On the "up" side - the sound quality is excellent - 7.5 surround and they have one digital projector. The largest auditoriums capacity is 40 chairs - and I believe there are two of them.

It's pretty cozy and comfy - I would suggest going on a Tuesday and take advantage of the half price food & beverage, makes it more reasonable.

I went on a Tuesday to see "MacGruber" as a fan of SNL and their skits this in my opinion was the worst of all SNL adaptations. But that's another story.

But when I went I noticed that it was extremely cold in the auditorium. I wonder if they purposely make it cold to get you to use the blankets. However I didn't use the blanket.

I love the new theater, but I too think that it is FREEZING inside have heard other people say the same thing. They could probably save a lot of money but turning the A/C down and save energy as well.

Pass through the Village at Fairview today and notice that banner for Rally House Texas was put up. It's going to be located between The Flower Pot and Bistro Baubusan.

Also I notice banners for Ann Taylor and a store called Sandollar Lifestyles. I looked it up and it's a shoe chain mostly in lifestyle centers in Alabama.

Noticed that one of the restaurants on the Allen side is on hold, or cancelled. Braza Dancante - Brazilian restaurant. I was looking forward to having one of those concepts open at the Allen/Fairview area. When it seemed like it was taking forever for them to finish construction, I figured something was up.

Does everyone else notice how some of the other restaurants are taking an extremely long to time to finish up? Cyclone Anaya and Patrizio's are being worked on at an extremely slow rate. I wonder if it's a business decision to slow things down until the Fall, just before Christmas shopping season. Several other restaurants are slated for fall opening. For the stores that are currently open, it has to be brutal, since it is a vicious, self-fulfilling cycle that if there are no stores, there are not customers/traffic, thus business becomes even slower, causing prospective vendors deciding to slow down start-ups, etc....

I think the Allen/Fairview shopping center will eventually be a happening place, but I bet you by then, over half of the existing tenants will switch out/close....

Walked into Dillards this past weekend...absolutely empty - makes you wonder how long they can tolerate this.

There was construction going on at the Braza location just this morning. It lists them as an August opening. If they have canceled, maybe the construction workers were just removing the remaining supplies, but it sure looked like that were still building. Chaucers, Cyclone, Patrizio, Twisted Root, Fire Pit, Cowboy Chicken are all behind their original dates, some more than others. Fall openings make more sense. Demand grows and flow is usually greater, especially in outdoor centers. It makes sense to wait to open, your overhead costs(labor, energy, foo etc. ) all go up after opening, so waiting a few months in this economy might be smart.

I certainly hope you are right. Maybe it was premature to say that Braza was not opening...It's just that they had a sign in front of the storefront a couple of weeks ago with a job phone line. Noticed yesterday that the phone number was blacked out. Could be like you said...they are postponing their opening until a "2nd" phase of openings take place this Fall...

Just drove by again on my way home. They hung the permanent sign today, and are putting in the front windows as we speak. I looks like we are going to have our Churascaria! I am excited.

Fairview side has a new restaurant. It opened tonight. Here is the description from the directory.

World renown artist, Wyland, is opening his flagship seafood restaurant and art gallery, Wyland’s Ocean Blue at The Village at Fairview.

Wyland’s Ocean Blue will offer high-quality seafood in a beautiful atmosphere and an opportunity for guests to view and purchase one-of-a-kind art by Wyland.

The 10,000-square-foot restaurant will include an art gallery, private dining rooms, 2 bar areas, and a large patio. Guests can take pleasure in the art, fish tanks and water features that surround them while enjoying cuisine from the sea skillfully prepared by Executive Chef Brian Dietz.

That sounds awesome. I'm not enough of a high-end foodie to know my chefs by heart, but a quick search shows Deitz has some provenance, having had the top spot at Oceanaire and he's held positions at Pappas Brothers and The Mansion.
