Libraries don't get their books from bookstores. They get them from publishers and from donations.
I think you took my statement the wrong way, but that was funny. I meant that if there was no market for new books, publishers would not publish books, so libraries would have no donations (public, private, whatever). I did not mean to suggest that libraries went shopping for their inventory.

I am one of the "whiners" you mention. I was very disappointed that a B&N wasn't going in as planned. I love to browse at bookstores - one of my favorite things to do on a date night evening with my husband after dinner/movie. I do buy but I also compile my "want to check out" lists for the library. Also, having a 2nd bookstore in Allen would be convenient for me when I have to quickly obtain a book for one of my sons for a class and they don't have it in stock at the new Borders (which has happened numerous times).

Maybe we are getting a Hastings at VofF--the chain has been expanding toward the DFW area.

I'm pretty sure there used to be a Hastings in McKinney where Tuesday Morning is now. It's been a long time, though, maybe 10 years or so.

Hastings backfills cheap, cheap space. If they go in at the Village then you know there is a severe shortage of tenants looking to lease space.
