The new posts regarding the Lunar surface shots reminded me it was time...
Time to say, besides the ongoing Space Station or sometimes Shuttle viewings, Saturn will show the rings again as our orbits have changed. So start watching in a couple of days for this neat treat. And maybe keep watching until the Leonids appear next week (another meteor shower event thingy). Best morning for that is reported to be the 17th.

How early in the morning should we look to the skies for Saturn?

Only problem with Saturn is it rises after 3AM, so make sure you got your hot cocoa ready! :)
I'll just be happy to get my scope back from the shop, it's in for warranty work at Celestron. Darn AZ motor was bad, good thing it was under warranty otherwise shipping on a 70 pound scope/mount would not be good! lol

Sorry, haven't checked in on this thread...and was about to report on the nice viewing tonight of the ISS and STS (Shuttle).
I'll research that, but around the time I posted that it was visible so near dawn, it was already becoming light out. It was very low on the horizon (SE area), so many times city obstructions nake it tough. But keep trying, as the Planet has turned so we can make out the rings again, woo-hoo! For Planet practice, keep looking at Jupiter each evening. It's all a free show, unless of course you invest in more gadgets?
Hmmm, maybe everyone knows someone needing these gadgets this season.

I'm hoping to get my scope back in time to catch a double flyby of the ISS and shuttle next time. If so, I want to try out a new satellite tracking software and give a shot at imaging them as they pass overhead. It's doomed to failure the first time out as it's a rather tough shot to get.

My Celestron unit could work with software I think, except it would be doomed to failure if I was the one in charge of such an interface.
