I am recording this show for my daughter who has a new found interest in professional cake decorating. Rather interesting. The "boss" is from Hoboken, N.J. and really has the accent and attitude from there. The show I watched, he made a life size billiard table for a charity event and a life size robot that could move for a "geek" party. Mon. 9:00 p.m. TLC channel (I think)

You should record "Ace of Cakes" on the Food Network - they do some pretty neat cakes too.

Thanks. I just saw an ad for that in a magazine. I am pretty much a "mainstream" t.v. watcher meaning ABC CBS and NBC so I am trying to get familiar with more channels. Growing up, we only had 3 channels and they signed off at midnight with the national anthem!

Mspam3, you were lucky! We only got NBC & CBS on our antenna!
My family really enjoys watching both "Ace of Cakes" and "Cake Boss". When we are watching "Ace" we often say "I wonder how Buddy would make this cake" and vice versa. I'd love it if they would put Duff and Buddy head to head on a cake challenge. It would be interesting to see how differently their cakes would turn out. We think they are both amazing in their creativity. (Come to think of it, I've seen them both on "Food Network Cake Challenge" but I don't remember if they were ever in the same challenge.)

When my daughter got interested in cake decorating, we bought a Wilton cake book and all the special stuff like the fondant. We had never worked with it and evidently didn't roll it out near thin enough. When we watched them use it on the Cake Boss, we were rolling on the floor laughing at ourselves for how thick ours was. That will be a much discussed memory. The cake was really hard to eat!!!
Yes, it would be interesting to see them go head to head. Love that Jersey attitude too!

My daughter loves that show. I love the whole large family dynamic. They had an episode last week where one of the nephews, a 16 year old high school wrestler, challenged his uncles to a match. Predictably, the kid wiped the floor with the uncle despite being outweighed by about 100 pounds. It was hilarious.
