Now that Windows 7 has been released I would like to get your opinion on how good or bad it is. Also, what would be a good computer to purchase for Windows 7? I use the computer for work and usually have multiple programs open at the same time (Internet, Word, Excel, graphics editor, etc).

I know its been a few months since this question was posed but I've been using 7 for about 3 months now and I am very happy with it.
If you plan to use for work and use vpn I would suggest that you look to see wether the 64bit version of 7 is compatible. I want to buy a new pc but I am still very unclear on this.

My work laptop is Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition and my current VPN software doesn't work. The solution was to install Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC. See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/de faul... and download the three files. It is that easy.
I now have a Virtual PC running XP in one window. Within the Virtual XP session, the VPN client connects to the office network while the remainder of my laptop stays outside of the VPN tunnel.

I am happy, and am very happy to have skipped Vista entirely.

I, too, skipped Vista and was happy for it but the wireless stuff on Windows 7 is driving me bonkers (maybe related to the lenovo software)
Wireless radios shut themselves off for no apparent reason, connections reset themselves from connect automatically to manual connect, etc.
Googled around a bit on "why does my Windows 7 wireless keep turning itself off" and I found a few setting to tweak buried in the power saver menus (DOH!! Power saving!! THAT'S where you look for wireless settings!!)
I travel a bit and so the laptop goes from office to office to hotels to home etc. One guy I work with said he uninstalled the lenovo stuff but it was pretty hairy to do.
The network/internet menu is not as easily accessible nor as intuitive to manage as the one in XP was - and you have to use it more often. If I stay on one network things are okay but as soon as I start moving around the wheels fall off.
I would love to know if other people have experienced similar problems with their Windows 7 and how they managed to cure it.

I solved that problem by going to a Mac. So easy to go from place to place with AirPort.

Understandable but, for a wide variety of reasons, not a practical solution for me.

I bought a Lenovo laptop a month ago...it was an impulse buy since it was so inexpensive at Fry's. Everything seems to be going fine...though we don't use internet radio. But the internet connection itself seems stable. But unlike you we mostly use it at home.
It had the face recognition thing while logging on that never worked which I uninstalled when the novelty wore out.

Where I work, we had an issue with the wireless nic on the IBM ? Lenovo laptops as well. The machines with the touch button above the keyboard which turned the wireless radio off and on was having an issue with the nic driver. We pushed an updated driver to the machines to fix. This would be my first action.
