There was no real catagory to put this in so I thought cooking (and cleaning) would be the best bet.
I have a long doily my mom gave me quite a few years ago and is now a little dingey(sp?) and needs to be cleaned. I have tried to research this but there are too many ideas to chose from. Anyone ever done this before? Do dry cleaners do this type of thing? Thanks in advance!

What is the doily made of? If cotton I suggest hand wash and hang to dry.

I think I remember reading somewhere that this is one of those items that can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher (empty of course).

You've already received some useful tips I think. And perhaps one could even try one of the little dish dunking bags, or securing the doily in a closed pocket during a wash cycle, as these approaches might protect the item during agitation?
If we ever had a doily thread, I could tell a chance find story about a framed doily thingy. Let us know if any of these tips helped?

How delicate is the doily? I would think that hand washing it in warm water with a little detergent and oxi-clean would get the dingy out.

(actually from rclark's wife) If the doily is cotton, and you hang it to dry, please do this on a dry day, so it can dry quickly. White cottons get icky yellow stains if left wet too long. To speed drying, lay the wet doily out flat between two beach towels, and gently walk on the towel/doily/towel sandwich to press out excess moisture. Remove the doily from the wet towels and hang to finish drying.
Two plus two equals five, for sufficiently large values of two.

Wow! Lots of responses! It doesn't say what the material is but it looks and feels like cotton so I will take everyone's advice and see what happens. Thanks again!
