How is it that all of the elemntary schools have an orderly process for dropping kids off before school - and then no one remembers how to do it when their kids get to middle school? I'll fault the school for not providing some level of process here. It is only a matter of time before a) some one gets hurt, b) there is a fender bender, or c) someone goes postal.

LOL! What elementary school do you go to because I want to go there! Bolin's morning drop off is ridiculously bad and dangerous.
I like Ford's set-up though, never had a problem there.

I was wondering, too, because Marion is crazy, and Curtis is easy peasy!

It is crazy at Ereckson. There is just no easy way to do it with the roads leading in and out, buses and cones everywhere.

I wish parents could get a clue that it's ok to drop and go, you don't have to watch the kid walk 30 feet to the door. It should look like a SWAT team vehicle egress. I think a few of them are balancing their checkbooks in the car while waiting for Johnny to mope his way to the door like a zombie.

My zombie generally rides the bus to Ereckson -- but on days that I take him I drop him off in the back around 8am. No traffic. I'm afraid to go near that place any later than that. And in the afternoon? Forget it.

Never had an issue with Kerr or Boon dropoffs. Smooth as silk.

Completely agree on the SWAT egress requirement. Seriously. I love my kids, but I DON'T think that they are SO special that I have to inch my car up to the area directly in front of the school door, have a conversation once we get there, get out of the car and get the backpack out of the trunk, and watch to make sure that they made it inside the school.

Been a while since I had to drop at the elementary school, but the Ford drop-off irritated me daily for the last two years.

The diamond-hard core of the problem is the folks that insist on dropping their little darling directly in front of the door. This means the drop zone is effectively one or two cars wide, instead of the available six or seven. This cuts throughput by about 75%. Everything else, like traffic backups, etc, flow from this issue.

A sign marking the start of the drop zone, and a culture of dropping your kid when you first stop in the zone would go a long way to fixing Ford's problems.

And yes, the kids in my car learned to yell "Geronimo" when the green light went on and the door opened. :)
Two plus two equals five, for sufficiently large values of two.

Oh this is an everyday drama for us...I guess all school drop-offs can be irritating. If my kids don't have their backpack in their lap, one hand on the door-handle and one hand on the seat-belt ready to jump out as soon as the car comes to a safe stop, they know they're going to catch it. At the Elementary, I don't even bother with the line, we park, jump out, and run for the crosswalk. At the middle school, we get within sight of the door and I yell "Dive! Dive!"

The folks who can't abide by the rules set by the school annoy me daily, the folks who sit there holding up the line having last minute conversations chap my hide, and the ones who have to wait until they are right there by the door, even if they just scoot up one car length, well, we'll just say Yosemite Sam would be proud...

Sigh...good to know there are others out there with the same frustration...

That is pretty funny. I give my middle schooler the 1 minute and then the 30 second warning respectively and then she's gotta jump. Only one who stays in the car is the pilot.

Interesting that all posts are from people supporting the notion of quick dropoffs.... Where are the other drivers? <shaking head>

They don't read, apparent;y, otherwise they would have read the numerous maps sent home outlining the drop-off areas

If there were side walks on Twin Creeks, I would dorop them off at Twin Creeks Country club and tell them to walk the 2 blocks.

I think there is something good for the brain walking in the morning in preparation for school.
