On the Bookmark menu there are open and closed books for each bookmark folder. What does that mean? Sometimes all are open books other times they are half open half closed? I just don't know what the difference is.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and I've used Firefox for years.

I have used it for years also, but recently installed it on a Mac book Pro. It might be the theme I am using as to why you might not have the same. But in the Bookmarks drop down each of my file folders have a book in the front of the file name. Sometimes the books are open other times they are closed. Not all at the same time of course. I have asked on the Firefox forum, but have not received an answer.

I'm as lost as Allen on this one. I use Firefox on a Mac and I don't see what you're talking about either. All of my bookmark icons are icons of the sites themselves ... for example, CNN.com bookmark has a CNN logo, Yahoo bookmark has the Yahoo Y. I don't see anything resembling a book, open or closed.
Perhaps you could post a screen capture?

If you use one of the theme plug-ins, you'll see a book open and close in the bookmark menu as you traverse your book marks. I suspect the one used by RRRquilter is not designed properly or the person who made the plug-in had some reason for leaving the icon in the open book state.
These open/closed books are not in the default Firefox GUI

Ah! Thanks Don.
I stay away from theme plug ins. They're generally not worth the hassle.
