I am very exicited to see that Tampopo is opening up near Allen - I saw the sign for it on W. Spring Creek Parkway and 75 facing the WalMart/7-Eleven parking lot.
I have been going to the one of Greenville and Caruth Haven in Dallas for years, and it is delicious and very reasonable. Yummy Japanese food, very casual, everything is under $10. I can't wait for it to open!

It opened up this week. Just went last night with the family, and it is as yummy as ever. Same food and same reasonable prices as the other location. Only difference is that at this location you get waited on. (The other location has counter service.)

We are wanting to try it. I saw the sign yesterday. Which menu items do you recommend? I have not eaten much Japanese food, only Chinese.....

Finally got to try this place. It was awesome! Only got the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box this time, but everything looked good and can't wait to try other items. Came with teriyaki chicken, rice, miso soup, 4 California rolls, and one each tempera shrimp, crab, zucchini and sweet potato...$9.95.

I saw this thread yesterday afternoon and drug my husband there for dinner last night. It was soooo good. I got the Japanese curry with chicken cutlet and he had the beef yakiniku bento box. I lived in Japan for several years and can't say how happy I am to find this place. The curry was delish. We also got an order of the gyoza and that was also yummy. We will definitely go again and again. The prices were exceptionally reasonable too and great value. It's a shame we have to drive to Plano for such good stuff.

Looove this place so much I have to post again. Went there again on Sunday. I ordered the Tonkatsu bento box this time. Lots of food and the price is so reasonable. It was so good.

Sadly, this location is closing its doors on March 1. I guess they weren't getting the business. Their other location is on Greenville Ave. Might be a little far for us to travel and unfortunately this was our favorite Japanese "goto" place. :(

There is another small casual Japanese restaurant that is almost as good located at Spring Creek & Coit. It's called Densetsu. I've been for lunch and they have a really good sushi lunch special. The menu is similar but slightly different. Prices are reasonable too.
