So, on our second visit to La Finca Chiquita we experienced something unexpected and refreshing. Our food was a little slow (a very very little) coming out and when it did my wife's order was incorrect (beef, instead of chicken tacos a la mexicana). We weren't the least bit put out and certainly didn't make any kind of fuss about it. After enjoying our delicious food, we get the bill and they've taken my wife's meal off of the check. I actually felt guilty but the manager would not let me pay for her meal saying that he felt that it was the right thing to do.

It's been a long time since I've received service and consideration of that level in a restaurant. Consider us loyal customers. Great food, great service. It's our new go to mexican food place. Those tacos a la Mexicana are something special by the way.

Had a chance to check them out over the Independence holiday weekend, and he's my review:

The short story: I give it a thumbs up, and if you are the type that likes to support local mom & pop business (as we are), you owe it to yourself to give it a try!

The long story: While Allen has several Mexican restaurants, I've only found one (El Grande Burrito) to be worth the while, so it's refreshing to see another mom & pop owned restaurant open in the area.

With regards to food and atmosphere:
La Finca Chiquita is your proverbial "hole in the wall" family run joint, located in an OLD and small building near/in downtown Allen, just a stones throw from the new public library.

It's certainly not new and shiny but it's not awful either, and the decor is friendly and warm, but they could use a refurb of their plumbing as the restrooms had a rather strong septic tank smell. I guess one should sort of expect that from an "antique" building however?

The owner Oscar, took time to visit all the tables in service and seems genuinely interested in making sure his patrons are being well served and are enjoying their food. He provided explanations of the various dishes, how they were prepared, what options you have, etc.

The food is as good as any of the better Mexican restaurant you'll find in the area, I'd put it on par with places such as Tino's on Ave K in Plano. Better than most chain's, and priced right. We had two adults and two kids and our bill (without tip) came in at $32.

The chips are just ok, our kids liked them, but I've had better from other restaurants , however the sauces (they provide 3 different ones) are excellent. The rice and beans were fine, hard to mess that up, but they were as good as you'd get from someplace like El Fenix or Tino's, etc.

Portions are decent sized, and the presentation shows that the food isn't just slapped together, but made with care.

Service was good, however I sort of felt that the owner and his wife were spending a bit too much time nervously hovering around the guests. Not a bad problem to have however, as I'd much rather be over-attended to, than under attended to, or worse yet forgotten by my water or waitress, like an unnamed establishment next to the Event Center.

Overall, as I mention above, I give it a thumbs up, and my recommendation would be to give it a try and support a local mom & pop run establishment!

We really like La Finca Chiquita. The talapia and carnitas (pork shoulder tacos on corn tortillas) were outstanding.

Thank goodness Oscar brought La Finca Chaquita back to Allen. We have sorely missed the excellent food and family atmosphere since the original location here closed. I love the small cozy location and the service is second to none. This is our favorite mexican food restaurant in the area bar none. (oh yeah, they don't have a bar but I believe they are BYOB).... AWESOME!

We went again for lunch and both the service and the food were excellent. Nice crowd at lunch too, there was only one open table after we were seated, yet the service and our food were prompt.

La Finca Chiquita is beginning to be a serious rival to El Grande Burrito for our local Mexican fair.

Hello Oscar,

I haven't tried the new location yet but, I plan to this week and I was wondering if I could get Charro beans even if a plate has refried beans listed? I never have cared much for refried beans anywhere I have had them (texture maybe?) but, I charro beans. Even if I can't get the substitution, I will still come in.
I love mexican food.

Yup! You can substitute a side (4oz) of charro beans (aka. Frijoles a la Charra) for the refried beans!
We look forward to seeing you! Do you know how to find us?

We've been 6 to 10 times since their opening, and have always been extremely pleased with the service, hospitality, and great food.

La Finca Chiquita rocks.
