I'm looking for daycare (licensed home or center) that uses sign language with the little ones. My daughter is 9 mo and I would like to teach her that while she is learning to talk.
Anyone know of a place in Allen, Lucas or nearby?
TIA.

Neat idea. I'm not sure myself, but here's a thought outside the box....ask the sign language folks at the Collin College, and see if in their networking they know of local facilities that do this? Worth a shot.

My 14 month is at Kids R Kids on Bethany. He's been there since I went back to work when he was 10 weeks old. They use sign language with the kids and my son has started to sign back. We've been really happy with Kids R Kids and my son has a great time.

Looks like Kids R Kids had a few DFPS violations last year that I would be concerned with.

I just reviewed the report (good habit to do on a regular basis) and they had 3 incidents over the last two years, none that I personally feel are a big deal. From my personal experience with my son there for a year now, I'm very happy with the center.

I'm surprised you don't feel that a teacher pinching a child as means of discipline is not a big deal.
Here is the website to look up centers across the state, if anyone else is interested.

I interpreted the report that the child had done the pinching. No day care will ever be perfect. Kids R Kids was one of the few we checked out that offered internet video so I can watch my son during the day. That influenced our decision a great deal. Knowing the teachers know someone is always watching was important to us.
My son has done well there which is all I can really comment on. I've also seen very little turn over within my son's age bracket. He's stuck with the same kids through two classrooms now. But each parent has to make their own informed decision.

Our toddler goes to Primrose of East Allen and has picked up 10-15 signs through both school and home.
The school focuses on it, but its our attention and use of signs at home that makes it stick. Much like other levels of education, your daughter will get out of it what you are willing to put in, both in and out of the home.
