Looks like the Allen USA Celebration 2010 page is up. Also looks like the City of Allen is going to welcome back The Commodores.

The Commodores of today is made up of completely different people. I'm sure they are a cheap gig to hire...more like a cover band. I am looking forward to Allen's celebration and I am happy it didn't get cancelled like so many other 4th of July celebrations due to this horrible economy. I would expect the crowd to be HUGE considering that it is all free and you can bring coolers filled with food and drink (no alcohol) and chairs and blankets, you can even bring a tent/shelter as long as you break it down before the fire works start.

So glad i'll be on the beach in southern California. It's just to hot to spend the day outside here.

Clyde Orange and William King are actually founding members of the band. Clyde Orange was the original lead singer, prior to Lionel Ritchie joining, and still shared lead vocals with him. J.D. Reynolds joined to replace Ritchie, and has been with the group since 81. It's far from a "cover band".

We'll probably listen from our front yard (it's usually loud enough that we can hear it. And we just have to cross the street to the neighbor's yard to get a good enough view of the fireworks.
Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it.

It was a great event.
The city of Allen employees did a wonderful job.

Glad everyone had fun. To the people who decided to park in front of my house and leave us no parking (we had to block space in front of our mailbox so we could park somewhere when we got home from Mass), we don't mind you parking in front, but please leave 1 spot for us next time. ;)

Great event, with the exception of the sound system. You had to be right at front of the stage to understand/hear the music. Elsewhere, to the sides, or further back, it was all muffled. They need to work on the sound system for next year...that was the only major disappointment.
Oh, yeah,,,and add outdoor airconditioning to the request as well :)

Careful blocking spaces. We use to live close to the park and I needed to block a space for my handicapped mother-n-law to park. She ended up riding with my sister-n-law so I moved my jeep out front and they parked in the back. I guess someone saw me and wasnt happy I had blocked the spot and I ended up with a full bottle of dr. pepper spilled across my dash and seats.

Yikes! That really stinks! I think next year I will grab a few lawn chairs and some friends and we'll just sit where people were parking. LOL
Maybe we'll have a miracle and be in a bigger house by then.
