Uh, yeah, he's not a baby.

This is free, so, I'm taking him. If it were not, I probably wouldn't.

I've seen plenty of adults that are "distractions".
Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him.

Well I'm talking about when it's open for real--not the free stuff.

They do allow kids, but do not encourage due to their lounge atmosphere. The concept is defitely adult themed.

I have not had a chance to check yet, but what I was wondering - if you do have a child, do they have to have a membership as well to get the discount price? (see my post above)

Normally places do not give memberships to people under 18 - my son is 15.

It does have a an adult-theme to it and I wouldn't recommend taking kids (under 10) to it, even if they are showing movies that kids would enjoy. I think kids would have a better time at a regular movie theater then at Gold Class anyways.

Correct, I can see taking a teenager as a special occasion during the daytime shows, but in general, save the money and go to a regular theatre with the youngsters. I think the atmosphere would be better for them anyway.

Did you ever think you would say "save" and "regular movie" in the same sentence?

I called the 800 number on the previous page, and this fellow had no idea what I was talking about, didn't even know there was a Fairview theater. So I left a message at the local number, hopefully they'll call back.

I've called the local number nearly 20 times; I only ever get the answering machine. I've left messages about 5 times. I've not gotten a call back. I didn't start this until early yesterday. (Late the night before I registered online so that I have the required Member ID number.) Maybe it's just too late. The 800 number is to some other, probably unrelated, company. I'm disappointed. This sounded like a great opportunity. Any ideas?

As soon as I posted this I tried again and got Emily. Only afternoon showtimes Monday and Tuesday are left.

Something I don't think I've heard mentioned yet: How was the picture and sound quality? I get the impression from the website that their theaters are basically like slightly larger way high end home theaters (note: I'm talking about examples where just that room and contents are $100-200K or more, not a room with a plasma and a home-theater-in-a-box); I'm wondering if they have sound and video to match.

Either way, I'm eager to see it during our showing on Monday!

I thought both were awsome, during some of the explosions in Avatar the ground shook and you could feel it in your chair.

We went wednesday night. The were 24 seats in our theater and only 12 people there. We liked it and will go back. I had portabella mushroom sliders and they were good, my daughter had lemon chicken satay and she liked it. We will be back for Sex and the City GIRLS NIGHT !

OK we just got back. The lobby is nice and service is good. If tonight were a pay date, I would have been very mad at my $7 1/5 full glass of house white.

The theater is nice and the reclining seats are comfy.

We burstout loud, though when our food arrived. The ice cold hamburger dual is two tiny hamburger sliders. They would not even qualify as an "A" cup.

At the end they give you your tab and ask you to complete a survey. There is no way I would pay a total of $115.00 for this evening.

$29 per movie ticket is too excessive for what is offered. And $18.40 for two mouth fulls of meat, four onion rings, and seven potatoe chips is not a bargain.

Overall, I would rate the Gold Class, a C+.

Side note...the service is very good. A lot of very enthusiastic kids wanting to serve you.

We went tonight to see Shutter Island. There were empty seats in the theater, by the way. The lounge was nice, a good place to visit while you wait for the movie. The theater itself is very comfortable, and the service was good. We aren't sound system afficianados, but we had no problem with the sound system or screen size.

We shared a pepperoni pizza and a "Death by Chocolate" dessert- chocolate cake with caramel and toffee. Both were good, the pizza and cake was plenty for the two of us to share. My dh's glass of beer was plenty large, but my glass of wine was very skimpy, especially if it had been $7. (and I hardly ever drink!) Would we pay this much for a movie night? Probably not. Was the experience nice as a treat? Sure!

Our tab was 52. and that included 1 glass of wine, 2 beers, 2 teas, 1 coke, 2 lemon chicken satay and portobello sliders. Then our movies would have been 17.50 each for 3 people a total of 104.50.

Okay, I hate to sound like a wine snob but that is how wine is served at Cru (wine bar in Watters Creek) and other upscale restaurants - large glass, small amount of wine (about 5 ozs). Gold Class Cinemas wasn't being cheap - just serving it the "correct" way.
