I noticed that the two lowest settings on my vehicles fan are not working. Barely any air (air conditioning, heat or vent) comes out or not at all on these settings. The two highest settings work fine. Is this an expensive repair or just replacing a fuse? This is on our Chevy Express van.

Probably not a fuse. Sounds like the blower (fan) or the switch. Since high works, it's probably the switch.

A couple of months ago we had the exact thing happen in our Odyssey. It wasn't bad as repairs go (I think it was 200 or so but don't quote me on it)

Possibly a speed control switch, burned connections or blower resistor, this usually caused by to much amperage draw from the blower motor (dragging) we have a new shop in town, I don't know if I shold be advertising here or not,

Thanks all for the information. We do have a place we usually take our vehicles for maintenance, so I'll get it in soon to have them check it out and get it fixed.

Possibilities include the switch alright, but we have found the resistor to be the most common problem. This resistor has more than one circuit inside and you select which one to run the electric thru via your fan speed switch. If one or more of these are burned out it leaves you with less operating speed selections. Hope this helps!

Thanks! We took it to Allen Automotive and got it all fixed. It has been a couple months so I don't remember what they found as the problem but am glad it is working again.
