Anyone ever get one of these? I just did this morning. Funny, he wrote down I was driving a green Toyota, but it was a blue Mazda.
How much is the fine and court costs? I haven't had a ticket in over 25 years.

It's "Click It Or Ticket" season again so it's a good idea to keep it buckled. I don't know how much this violation would cost. Sorry this happened to you.
I guess the law is now tht everyone has to be in a seat belt even in the back seat.

If it is City of Allen, they don't list the amount for this violation, although they list most others...whatever city it was in, you should be able to go to their website and find out what to do and how much the fine is.

When there are errors on the ticket the ticket is dismissed when you go to court.

Not true. I had a ticket with three errors on it, it was not dismissed (I had heard this rumor also).

Seat belt violation is $152 in Allen. $204 for children without a seat belt.

When there are errors on the ticket the ticket is dismissed when you go to court.
"Courts will often excuse minor errors on a ticket. A misspelled name, incorrect address or difference in opinion on whether your car is aqua or green in color will not result in a dismissed ticket. Conversely, a major error such as citing the wrong statute, radically misidentifying your vehicle or listing the wrong highway as the site of the violation should provide justification to dismiss the ticket."

Man, ticket prices are definitely higher up here. I got a seatbelt ticket a decade or so ago in Waco (wow, I feel old now) and it was $65. I paid it in increments, and 2 years later I was stopped for speeding (the place I pulled out from was about 50 yards away so I KNOW I couldn't have been going much faster than 30 on a 70mph area). Anyway, the cop said I hadn't paid my ticket and there was a warrant for my arrest and I was taken in.
The moral of this story: Make sure you get a receipt when you pay your ticket and keep it with you just in case.

Why do people continue to be so childish and refuse to wear seatbelts. It is pure physics, you will get messed up if you are not restrained in an accident. Stop the childish "no one can tell me what to do crap" and just put on your damn seatbelt, and spare the EMTs from having to hose out another lump of hamburger.

Well, I'm not childish. I did actually have it on, took it off because I had to check to see if I had something in my pocket, and had just not had time to re-buckle.
So spare me your lecture. I'm well aware of what happens to people who don't wear seatbelts. If you read my post, I wasn't digging my heels in refusing to pay or anything. I got caught, they couldn't give me a warning, so I'm taking my lumps. Don't be so quick to judge people you don't even know.

I agree, you were just asking a simple question and now you are being judged by others, that's not right. I get on here less and less all the time because of all the people that think they know everything and their rudeness!

Oh I figure that goes without saying. I've always been the type that won't put the car into drive until everyone has their belts on.
On that unfortunate day (must have been 14 or so years ago) I wasn't driving. My friend had pulled over because of a bee scare and belts had to come off to get the danged thing out of the car. With the bee gone, my friend wasted no time getting back on the road, before either of us had our belts on. Mere seconds later the cop got us.
I've never again been in a moving vehicle without my seatbelt being on.

Many Years ago you used to be able to get a ticket dismissed for any error at all, but not any more. It has to be other things like Joel said. You used to also get a dismissal if you went to court and the officer didn't show up...not any more either.
I got a ticket 2 years ago by a "in a bad mood" Plano officer. I bit my tongue to not fuss at him for speeding down FM2551 heading to Parker Rd and then telling me that I'd been riding his bumper all the way from Murphy (he pulled me over on Jupiter just slightly South of Parker). As I was cursing driving off I looked at the ticket and noticed the MPH limit said 30. I knew good and well at said 40 (I think it was) so I circled back and went passed the sign again and sure enough it wasn't 30 so I contested the ticket.
I got it dismissed. But here's some information that I did not know.... The speed limit is whatever the city ordinance says it is regardless of what sign is posted. Fortunately the city ordinance said it was 40 (or whatever it was) and not 30. BUT if the sign had shown higher than 30 and the ordinance said 30 then I'm written up for whatever over 30mph. Also, the office has 2 years from the date of dismissal to correct the ticket and re-accuse you or if you get another citation in that time they can bring up the dismissed ticket (fortunately that time has passed).

Be sure to ask for deferred adjudication, or if that's not an option, defensive driving. You do not want anything on your driving record.

while we're at it, I just got a ticket in the mail because I blew a red light on a Photo Enforced intersection. I didn't see anything in the paperwork about traffic school or deffered injunctions. Do these count against my driving record in anyway?

Someone feel free to prove me wrong (and I'm sure many are chomping at the bit), but I believe those are civil citations, not criminal. Therefore they cannot go on your driving record. There's also much discussion on whether or not you really have to do anything about it.

Just did a brief bit of research. It is a civil infraction with a fine, and no traffic points on your driving record. Also, if you don't pay, some cities will then turn it over to a collection agency. Some cities do nothing.
So, pay the fine ($75??). Or don't, and you may get a debt collector calling you.
