Both husband and daughter are in need of "new" cars. Both will have to be used and both are wanting Hondas or Toyotas.
Anyone have experience with used car dealers that sell these? We've heard so many rumors about used car places around here and just want some place reliable and good to work with. Thanks in advance.

We've bought our last 3 cars through CarMax and have had great experiences. You can see their stock on their website and if you like something at another location they will transfer it to the Plano lot for you for free.
Unless specified above, this post is not directed toward anyone in particular.

I've always found Car Max to be MUCH higher than everyone else. They do give a good appraisal on your trade in (if you have one).

Anytime I am out looking for a used car, I always start at Cars.com and sometimes check out Auto Trader

I found my last three for four cars through cars.com.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it!

Do your research on Very specific models you are interested in.

For Example - I was looking for a VW beetle turbo desiel with a manual transmission. Didn't really care about the year, but I wanted a very specific model due to an excellent service history and economy. Join the car's online user forums. You will know more about the car than the manufacturer by the time you are ready to purchase it.

Then start searching using cars.com, craigslist and few other sites. I generally look for NON-DEALER cars with clean histories and low miles. Miles are MUCH more important than year of car in the used business unkless there was some service problem with the specific year. Go to a few dealer cars so you know how the car drives, learn the features and kick a few tires. When you are ready to purchase the car you will be in the KNOW about the model and the correct price.

Get the car checked out by a good mechanic knowlegable in your model.

Happy Hunting
