We are re-doing a bedroom and need to get rid of a box springs and mattress. We aren't buying a new bed yet. We just need to get rid of it so we have more space to work. It's very old and not usable.
Anyone know of a mattress business that will take a used mattress without buying a new one from them?
Or anyone know of a hauling service that will do it? I know there will be a dumping fee or something. Thanks in advance.

They'll take in bulk trash pickup or you might be able to take it to the dump.

Yeah do the bulk day at home or let one of your onliner friends haul it to the dumpy place. I recently helped some friends donate some of their furniture, but the mattress was not something they would accept, so I think that is a common situation.

I need to pass that onto my neighbors who have a mattress and box springs leaning up against their house in the back. Every time I drive down the alley and glance over, I see the mattress with a big pee-pee stain. YUCK! It has been out there for over a week now!

I am going to call the city to have them pick it up on bulk trash day. We won't put it out in the alley till my husband gets up Sat. a.m. to go work out. That way it won't be an eyesore for very long.

The HOA is okay with this?

We don't live in an HOA. Been there with our first house and didn't care to live with all the rules, but I'm not going to turn this into an HOA vs non-HOA discussion.
I'll call code enforcement if it isn't gone by next Saturday which is bulk trash pick up day for my part of town. I think in the meantime I'll go to the CWD site and print off the information they need to contact CWD for the bulk trash pick up. They will have to call CWD to schedule the pick up before noon on Friday.
