My car was sideswiped while it was parked in front of of our house. Then someone wrote all over our truck with marker. Is anyone else having these problems?

Have had that a few times over these years, but not lately.
Worst case for us was when we had the experimental station wagon (a fun story all by itself). Anyway the neighbor drug dealer ran alongside the car with his monster truck tires. An amazing circular pattern of big tire was left on the side of the car along the entire length. Even though the car had issues, it looked nice when it still had body-side moulding and the mirror. Nothing was done since it was not witnessed.
Now if you are speaking of a hit and run side-swipe deal, there are many of those as well. Whether drunks or speeders, houses at each end of my block have been clobbered by cars that failed to stay on the roadway. Mailboxes hit here as well. I know from personal experiences and emergency responses at work that this is not unusual. BUT, if they left paint from their car it can be used to identify the car, if anyone wanted to follow up. This can be done on hit and run pedestrian victims as well.

We had a kid in our neighborhood wipe out on his bicycle against our truck. The only damage was rubber from the tires rubbed off onto the truck and left a large area marked. My husband used a compound cleaner to get the marks off. The kid was okay too. He picked up his bicycle and rode off. But, he should have at least come to our door to let us know what happened, but what kid is going to think of that.
