Today a parent asked me if I knew when practice for Jr High Football started.
I have no clue I assume the first day of school. If anyone knows please clue me in so I can stop passing out bad information.

First day of school they report like a normal school day. They will receive information from the coaches about gear, parents meeting, and practice by the third day of school.
They usually start practice end of the first week or beginning of the 2nd week of school. 7th graders before school 6:50am and 8th graders after school ending around 4:45.
You will provide mouth guard and cleats for your kid. You will purchase their grays at schedule pick up. At the parents meeting they will ask you for a check for the food club.
Right now, you should visit the Allen HS website, Athletics, and print out the Atheltics program packet. You will need to have your pediatrician complete a sports physical for your son and fill out the sheets in the sports packet.
Games are on Tuesday nights. Starting around 6pm depending on if your son is on A team or B team.
Good luck!

I am so glad I found this email..My son started football for the first time and we are both nervous. my only concern is what exactly to buy and bec my funds are limited I dont know where to go for the helmet/pads etc..I thought the school furnished these items but im being told that is not true. Hopefully the coaches meeting tonite will answer some questions I have.
So Allen ISD does not have a program or process for reuseable football geer?

I would try Play it Again Sports. I know they have hockey gear.

When my son played at Ereckson, the school supplied everything but undershirt, socks and shoes. Of course, my money went to game day shirt, car decals and a yard sign. Oh, and pre-game meals, about $50 for the season.

My son plays at Curtis, the school provides helmets and pads, and did last year. As a matter of fact, 8th grade got their pads yesterday and practiced today.
You do have to get cleats, socks and the practice clothes (shirt and shorts of a specific color) but last year the coaches had a supply of practice clothes we could purchase from the school. Can't remember about the mouthpiece as we already had one from 6th grade.
Coaches meeting will shed some light tonight. Be prepared, there is a dinner fund to contribute to, the guys get fed before the games.
