The difference is, when you face a right to refuse service you have the opportunity to go elsewhere to get what you need. When the government controls the healthcare and says no, you're pretty well screwed. Either way, letting the government have total control over healthcare is foolhardy at best. They can't even run a postal service right.

Since nobody has proposed an NHS style nationalized healthcare system here the example is meaningless for this country. Additionally, contrary to popular opinion UK citizens do have options to NHS. There is a private system that people can use if they have the money to pay for it or an insurance policy.

It's not been put into place yet but it will be, it's only a matter of time unless the Obama Care crud is turned around. Yes, you can pay for your own healthcare if you can afford it with the high cost of taxes. The same goes in Canada, if you can afford it. When you lose half or more of your pay to taxes to cover healthcare Americans do not want, it's a bit hard to pay.
