A family member had a year old boxer that they could no longer care for. (Great part of that is we got to name her when she was a new puppy.) On Mother's Day we were asked if we wanted to have her, at this time Niko had only been gone for 6 months, and as much as having a new puppy in the house would be wonderful, it still felt so hard to think of replacing her so soon.. They said we could take her home and try her out ..
Well, its been 4 months and we made the best decision!! She is wonderful! We did find out, however, that she had NO vetting ever. So we rushed her straight to our vet, got her UTD on everything, a week later got her spayed, and on good nourishing puppy food.
Soooo I'd like to introduce to you all "Emma Joy". She is a flashy red/fawn. Born Nov 26, 2008. And is so full of life. The girls are just in love!
Each day we think of Niko, and she reminds us what it was like when Niko was a puppy.. She sure does have her own personality!

I am so happy for you! I know you miss Niko, but you'll always have good memories of her. Emma Joy will bring you lots of great times to look forward to and maybe some not so good (like when she might chew something she shouldn't be chewing). She looks like she has made herself very comfortable in a great home!

It was so sad to read your posting about Nikko passing after all the great posts you had during the time she was alive. To hear that you have a new family member is great news. You have great memories of Nikko and now can continue with new memories and I am sure you will be thinking of Nikko as events with Emma Joy happen. Congratulations on your new family member!

Oh my! She was here about a month and I bravely opened all rooms to her. As we were sitting down and watching tv, she was elsewhere. I get up to go look for her, and she came from the formal rooms ... with strings from my couch pillows fringe!! I made those pillows myself!
I didn't fuss to much, because, after all, shes a puppy and they are just pillows!
We can't wait to celebrate her 2nd bday and for Santa to come visit her! I am already talking about getting her stocking to match ours..

For some reason, I had missed this post Congrats on your new family member--Emma Joy is a beautiful girl! I bet she has her own Christmas stocking on the mantel by now (maybe one trimmed with fringe from your former couch pillows? LOL)
