THE MGERRING GROUP ANNOUNCES IN-N-OUT BURGER TO OPEN (from D Magazine SideDish Blog at http://bit.ly/cjICkx)
AT THE VILLAGE AT ALLEN IN SPRING 2011
The Village at Allen will be one of the first In-N-Out Burger locations in Dallas-Fort Worth
ALLEN, Texas – (Nov. 2, 2010) – Dallas-based shopping center developer The MGHerring Group today announced that In-N-Out Burger will open at The Village at Allen in mid 2011 as one of the first locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
“In-N-Out Burger’s selection of The Village at Allen for one of its first Dallas-area locations is yet another example of how our project continues to attract sought-after dining and retail concepts, many of which are new to the Dallas market,” said Gar Herring, president of The MGHerring Group. “The Village at Allen, along with sister property The Village at Fairview, is quickly becoming the go-to dining destination in Collin County with new restaurants opening every month.”
The Village at Allen is one component of a joint, 3-million-square-foot regional, mixed-use lifestyle development located in Allen and Fairview, Texas, at the intersection of U.S. 75 and Stacy Road.
The Village at Allen features more than 60 stores, restaurants and businesses, including retail anchors Super Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Best Buy, PetSmart, ROSS Dress for Less, Hemispheres and Anderson’s Furniture.
“The Village at Allen is an ideal location for our expansion into the Dallas market,” said Carl Van Fleet, vice president of planning and development for In-N-Out. “The surrounding retail and entertainment venues will drive new customers to our restaurant. In addition, with a highly-visible location at U.S. 75 and Stacy Road, customers will be able to find us easily.”
The Village at Allen also includes the 6,225-seat Allen Event Center, the Allen Community Ice Rink and the Courtyard by Marriott Dallas-Allen at the John Q. Hammons Center. Recent openings at The Village at Allen include Cotton Patch Café, Cowboy Chicken, Kirkland’s, Paradise Bakery, Sally Beauty Supply, SportClips and more.
Together, The Village at Allen and sister property The Village at Fairview (located across Stacy Road) comprise the largest mixed-use development in Texas and one of the largest in the United States.
By the end of 2010, The Village at Allen and The Village at Fairview will include more than 120 national retailers, specialty shops and restaurants.
The nationally-recognized project spans 400 acres and, upon completion, will feature
2 million square feet of retail and 1 million square feet of office, residential and hotel space. For more information, visit www.thevillageshopping.com. For more information about In-N-Out Burger, visit www.in-n-out.com.

It's a sliding scale - Whole Foods, all nice and healthy, is at the "west end", and the artery hardening factor increases as you go east. I guess if we ever do get that Heart Attack Grill, it'll be in Lucas. :)

Geez...another fast food chain that this city certainly doesn't need! Not that good of a burger anyway.

Ok, then it should be right in with the rest of them, perfect. We may not need another fast food joint in town from a resident perspective, but it is nice to have options, and don't forget that the collective "shoppes" are designed to draw in people form all around, the arena, the cabelas and the top golf all point to this. Many people aren't looking for a sit down place when they are coming in or out of the area, they are just looking to grab some fast food quick or on the cheap. Having them all in a row in one part of the shoppes is good, and keeps people in the area. For instance, if there weren't a ton of food options, you may have people doing all day shopping saying lets go to X and get something to eat somewhere out of the area, instead of saying, lets grab a bite, and then do more shopping.

Exactly. I spoke with a family at McDonald's on Thursday while our little boys were playing. They wanted to let him run around for a bit before their drive home to Arkansas. They said they come for a couple of days every year to shop. I think our area is becoming a nice shopping destination for the region and it's nice to have a wide range of dining options, in terms of price, both for Allen residents and those visiting.

I work in the management office at the outlet and I was amazed at the amount of international shoppers we receive from Mexico, Brazil & Korea (among others). We also are a big destination for OK, LA, & AR visitors.

The one in Fort Worth is going into the West 7th development at West 7th St & University. They have a signed lease that begins early next year (doesn't mean they will open then, just that the lease starts).

Noticed on In-N-Out hamburgers facebook page the one in Frisco or Allen will be the first to open in north Texas. They are saying Spring 2011.
With having both our Allen and Frisco locations already under construction, we expect one of them to open first.
