Thousand Island dressing looks like vomit to me. Doesn't taste much better either. I'd rather have mustard and ketchup.

Go by the one in Frisco quite a bit because it's near where I work. I don't understand anyone standing in a long line for a fast food burger. It's actually pretty scary.
It's the herd mentality of the sheeple. :)

As someone who was really looking forward to the in-n-out burger opening, I have to say most people here are right about it being just another burger, or even not as good as others. I had in-n-out in the past in california, and I thought it was always really good (minus the fries), and ate at the one in Allen. But oddly enough, I am really not rushing to go back. There are a lot of choices around here, and I have to say, I enjoy mooyah, Five Guys, and especially Culvers over in-n-out. Once the nostalgia wore off, and the reality set in, I have found there are better choices, at least IMO.
Though I do realize in-n-out is not really a competitor so much with mooyah and five guys, as those are dine in mostly, in-n-outs main competition is McD's, Whataburger, etc, and in that arena, I think they are much better.

Additionally, most of those places are shuttered at 9 or 10 p.m. In-N-Out is open till 1 or 1:30 a.m.

This is what a lot of people are missing. Of course there are better burgers, but this is fast food/drive thru.
My wife and I never had In-n-Out before the one here in Allen, and we were very impressed. I'm a Whataburger homer to the extreme, and I thought it was as good, if not better in certain ways.
Other than Whataburger, the other burger chains pale in comparison.

Yes, I think the problem is the in-n-out loyalists telling anyone who will listen that their burgers are the best bar none, which gives an unrealistic expectation for those who have never had it. Quick burger in the car, I agree it is better than the rest.

Could Whataburger be substituted for In-N-Out in your comments and be equally true?

I actually find Whataburger meat to be pretty poor. The patties seem frozen?

I don't disagree with you. My point was simply there are folk who are rabid about their favorite on both sides. It does not make either side right or wrong, simply amusing.

Double double and fries (no drink) is $5.02 at In-N-Out, so definitely more McDonald's competition in terms of price, and blows Quarter Pounder away IMO.
Regarding Whataburger: A friend said it well on another forum when he said "Their normal burgers are pretty good, but their specialty burgers are where they shine, e.g. A-1 Thick & Hearty, BBQ Cheddar". I'd rather have In-N-Out than a regular Whataburger, but I get weak in the knees for A-1 Thick & Hearty. :)

Excellent point Brad.
Their specialty burgers are awesome. So good in fact, that I make my own version of the A1 Thick and Hearty burger at home since I can't get it year round.

not sure how they "didn't need a napkin". In-n-Out was one of the messiest fast food burgers I've ever eaten. Animal style of course which I've learned is the only way to order it.
So they take a couple burger "experts" from the Dallas area and compare the west coast In-n-Out to the Dallas based Whataburger. Hmmm, I wonder who they would choose? What's next, bring a New Yorker in to compare New York style Pizza with Chicago Deep Dish??? Useless article.
Bring in somebody like me, not a burger expert but somebody that just loves a juicy patty. In Michigan we had neither places so I have no favoritism and did not grow up eating one or the other. My fiance and I both agree that In-n-Out slaughters the bland Whataburger. Sorry everybody.
In-n-Out fries, that's a different story. Yuck!

I took it more as an entertaining piece. I laughed at some of their comments.

That Whataburger in the picture(#4) looks exactly like every Whataburger I (used to) get. Do they dip the buns in the leftover grease then sit on them before they put them in the bag? Is that a Texas thing?
Everyone's taste is different, but I think 9 out of 10 would choose the In-N-Out just on looks.

I've never had a whataburger that was flattened like that.
