Okay ... been there, done that, no need to go back for more. I was less than impressed. Went inside around 1:30 today for lunch. Got up to the register right away and ordered. The kids did not like it at all. We ordered crispy fries due to the conversation here and they tasted overdone and were indeed crispy. The burger .... well, I compare it to Steak n Shake. That's about the best description I can give it. But the bun was good ... I'll give it that.
Now that I've been there, I can honestly say that I have no need to return and I now totally do not understand the hysteria about this place.

Restaurant Talk has been pretty quiet lately, so I'll bring up an old subject.
It's been almost 4 years now. Many people on here said they had it once just to try it and would never go back. So out of curiosity... How many people have kept their word so far and never went back? Did anyone like it but lost interest after the hype? Has anybody ended up caring for it even after they disliked their first visit? And if so, do you think you disliked it the first time because it didn't meet up to the hype? Or do you think you just disliked it because of Texas pride and you wouldn't let yourself like something that became famous from another state?
I myself liked it quite well the first time and thought I would visit often. But in actuality I rarely do. Really no reason except for their fries that I still think are gross. But I do still think that a Double Double Animal Style is a darn good fast food burger.

Wow has it really been that long? I like in & out. It's not the greatest burger on earth or anything but I still like it when I want a quick burger that's better than McDonalds.

I went once.
I just didn't care that much for it, didn't see what all the hype was about. The french fries sucked, that's a huge negative.

Same here...went there once because the kids forced me to take them but we've never been back. The kids weren't all that impressed. We're a Whataburger family.

I thought it was OK but prefer Whataburger over In-N-Out.

If my kids want a burger, it is In-N-Out they request. We go every so often.

We went just the other night. I got a cheeseburger and it hit the spot! We don't go often but every now my husband will get a hankering for an animal style double double.

We go on an occasional basis. The burgers are really good for the price, but I agree, I'm not a huge fan of the fries. More than once, I've gotten McDonald's fries to go with my In-N-Out, eating them together in the car.

We went the first month they opened and did not like it at all. But I am always willing to try a place more than once, first time we just got plain hamburgers, but was told to get it animal style next time so we did,,it was much better!! I will agree, I like Whataburger better but In N Out is a good place to go from time to time, and we like sitting outside. Now we dont like the fries at all, they taste too much like those fries you buy in a can at stores? shoestrings i think? just no flavor to them, so we go get fries at Raising Canes before hand. Our favorite burgers in town are still Two Rows,,and Tuesday nights are half price burgers there,,so its a easy decision on that night for us.

I've given them 3 tries. I just don't like it. I'm not much into fast food burgers anyway.

In-n-Out is #2 on my short list of "traditional" fast food burgers:
1. Whataburger
2. In-n-Out
3. Sonic
4. there are no other good fast food burgers
Whataburger and In-n-Out are really different in taste and style, and I like both pretty close to equal. It just depends on what sounds good that day. Sometimes I just have to have a Double-Double animal style with chilies.

We've only been once. The burgers weren't bad but have to agree that the fries were just awful. Too many other places where we can get a good burger AND fries to go back.

Once and done. I didn't buy into the hype. Like others have said, I prefer the taste of a Whataburger any day of the week.

Went when they first open and still continue to go from time to time. I enjoy it quite a bit. Like chf, I find Whataburger and In-n-Out pretty close and those are the 2 fast food burger places I typically go to, depending on my mood.
I think the fries are fine. They are actually just potatoes - and not frozen. You can see them slicing the potatoes in the store. On the other hand, the McDonalds fries have 17 ingredients in them. I do agree that McDonalds fries taste better, but I would rather eat real food instead of chemicals.

Mooyah and Five Guys also cut their own fries and I eat the hell out of those... Just sayin

In-N-out fries would be better if they just fried them longer, they come out wet, weak and tasteless.
That and their burger is unremarkable in every aspect.
