I found this forum and thought I'd contribute. I was at the library last Summer looking for something new to read and I stumbled across "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. Well, I wasn't able to put the book down and now I'm on book 5 of the series. Just wondering if there are any other Jamie/Claire fans lurking around. I recommend the book if you're into 'historical sci fy romance fantasy' fiction. :)

I LOVE this series! I'm towards the end of Drums of Autumn. I too couldn't put it down to save my life. Unfortunately when it was first made, bookstores put it in the romance section instead of fiction so it has carried that stigma. When I went in to buy the next book in the series, the woman who checked me out told me "Your wife will really love this book! It's so nice of you to buy it for her." Myself being an embarrassed unmarried male all I could say in response was "yes.. yes she will.." Then leave as swiftly as possibly without attracting attention.

I finished Drums of Autumn on Christmas Day. I think I read 8 hours straight that day. I've been reading The Fiery Cross a little more slowly because I don't want the books to end too quickly. Although I think there are a couple more after this one. Glad to meet another Outlander fan!

I'm the same way! I Had to leave my book in the car so if I have free time somewhere, I could read a little bit. The last few I kept on my nightstand then ended up with dark rings around my eyes. Sleep was no longer a priority hehe. There has been talk of a movie or mini-series coming out for quite some time, but I feel a little hesitant with that. I don't think there are any well known actors out there that could pull off those characters well enough to satisfy the fans.

I have read them all twice, and am looking forward to her next one due out early next year! Once you are finished with them you might want to read another author with about the same style and setting. Try the Wilderness series by Sara Donti. These books are great! Done with a similar style, and the first one has a reference to one of the Outlander characters in it! These books continue the story of The Last of the Mohicans, with the adventures of Hawkeye and his children.

Thanks, Weblady. I'll check it out! I have been patiently waiting for the next book (hopefully coming early next year!). I also read on Diana Gabaldon's website that the mini series is finally in the works. I think Sony picked it up. *fingers crossed*. Hubby and I have a trip booked to Scotland for next Spring. Can't wait to bring it all to life!
