After 26 years assisting women to find their perfect look. Every new year I get asked the question. What style goes best with my face shape?

So to help you here are a few hints :

Square Face - defined by a strong jawline and forehead.

Objective : to create an Oval look by giving lift to the features. This can be done by using diagonal, concave or vertical lines to create the oval illusion.

Option 1 : long hair past the shoulders with tapered fringe and soft layers.

Option 2 : short or long medium with texture to give the lift to the features "Remember NO Horizontal lines" they cause width.

Oblong Face :defined by the face being longer than it is wide. Normally with high foreheads and long chins.

Option :Styles cut above the shoulder mid neck or shorter with horizontal lines to help create width. Also a fringe "bangs" is recommended to create a wider feel to the face.

Warning : Stay away from to much hair length because the vertical lines will add more length to the face. Also V shaped necklines and vertical earrings are not recommended but that is a whole different lesson.

Heart Face : defined as having width at the forehead and narrowing to a point at the jawline. This face shape normally has a very sharp chin.

Objective : is to fill in around the chin area giving width to that section of the face.

Option : a chin length style would be great with soft waves of curl because it would create width. Understand?

Remember there are only six lines to work with.

They Are :

Horizontal - cause weight or width
Vertical - removes weight or width
Concave - softens width
Convex - used to elongate
Diagonal forward - implies forward movement
Diagonal Back - implies back movement

P.S. please don't harass your hairdresser if they are not aware of these concepts. It's just that I have been blessed to be able to attend several schools as the Dir. of Education for Nexxus, Where I was able to achieve a Post Graduate Degree in beauty along with a Color Degree from Clairol University with a background in Blueprinting and Isometrics.
This helps me to think Out Of The Box for you when creating your perfect look.

Hope all this helps
