Went to my first game last night with 5 friends and we were all really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we were all incredibly bored. I don't know if it was just this team or Arena Football in general, but there were some many stoppage of plays that it was highly irritating. I am hoping that at the 4/8 game it will more entertaining since I got tickets much closer to the field, and I would like to entertain my company coming from Seattle. Him having season tickets to the rowdy Seattle Seahawks, I'm afraid he is going to be more bored than I was. These gripes are more about the game in general, which the AEC can't control. But there is much that they need to change that would really help with the enjoyment of the game.
First off, enough of the sponsors! To have a sponsor announced with every penalty/big play/touchdown/field goal is highly irritating. I understand the need for sponsors but the banners and field advertisement seems sufficient. The PA announcer seemed to not really know what was going on and at one point was getting the crowd fired up when announcing the other teams TD. Myself, being a DJ, was highly criticalof the music. Have you ever heard of high intensity pump up music? Take some notes from the Americans. Music is not perfect there but much better. It does not work very well when "Get Loud" is scrolling on the banners and the announcer is trying to pump up the crowd and then, *cue George Straight music*. And what was with all the country music? Is that an Arena league thing? I like country, but it does not get me "fired" up. And I'm pretty sure your playlist consisted of a dozen songs. I couldn't tell you how many times I heard "Wannabe" by Spice Girls, "Ridin' Dirty", "Wave on Wave", I Gotta Feeling", and "Fightin' For" by Cross Canadian Ragweed. Please please please get some more music and keep it upbeat! If you can't do that, please please please message me and tell me you need help. I will gladly take the gig off your hands.
Also, the halftime/stoppage of play entertainment was horrendous. Do not just give a mic to some cute girl and expect them to entertain the crowd. Get somebody that knows what they are doing. The mics never on, the horrible games they played with the crowd (chicken dance, smarter than a 5th grader, etc), it seriously made it awkwardly uncomfortable. At halftime, the girls never explained the objective to the "win the harley" game. Was the guy just supposed to kick a field goal? Supposed to hit the van that for some reason parked underneath the goal? Or make it into the box that for some reason was put on top of said van? Not to mention that the girls started to have him kick at the wrong goal until somebody ran onto the field to correct them. Again, have somebody running the entertainment that know what is going on.
The plus sides? The team seemed really good and were doing a good job getting the crowd chanting and pumped up. At least in that corner. And the LAW dancers look good and seem to be better coreographed than the Ice Angels (no offense to anyone). A word of advice to parents, do not seat your children too close to the benches. I was shocked to hear the language coming from there. At least the visiting side. I would hope it's not that bad on the home side.
I don't mean to be so negative to the team, I really support it and want it to succeed. But coming from a football fan, I was incredibly bored and I think that the AEC can make some serious changes that would help with that. I also felt very bad for Mr. Drew Pearson and anyone that has money wrapped up in the team, because if things don't change and they start getting more of a crowd, I fear they will not get past their innaugural season. I write this just in hopes that somebody that CAN make some changes WILL make some changes.

How was the attendance?
We haven't made it to a game yet, but folks we know have, and they said the place was mostly empty when they went, and that they left early due to it being dull as well.
We go to American's games a lot, and would like to check out the Wranglers, but these testimonial's aren't helping things much.

The game was a good game. It was difficult to understand what the announcer girls were saying but to me it sounded more like an audio issue over a content issue. There were times one of the girls would speak and there was no audio.
The kids playing football at halftime was wonderful. I was impressed that those young kids could make those passes like they did.
I have been to both home games and the first one did not have all that many people at it. On Friday night there was a much larger crowd. If you had been to the very first game the announcer was horrible but that did seem a touch better this last game.
There was a lot of improvement between the first game and Friday’s game so let’s hope that trend continues. Our family will go to more games. It is fun and close and a good value.

Well I'm glad that the attendance went up since the first game (even though I can't imagine less), hopefully they will have even more at the 4/8 game. I will post any changes I noticed. Improvements or shortcomings.

The kids at halftime were very entertaining (and impressive) to watch.
I thought the announcer did a great job.He was very entertaining. As far the "halo first downs" and such, he was just doing what he was told. It could have been worse. He could have said "cotton on the carpet" over and over again.
They had a few problems with scheduling of sideline events with the girls and other items. I think they will get these worked out in time. This was, after all, only the second game here. Give'em a break.
This was my first game. It wasn't real exciting but it was entertaining. I have to have something to fill the void until my Allen Eagles football team returns to the field. I will probably go to the next game also!
Oh, one other thing. You can tell they NEVER planned on area football being played there. The scoreboard was only useful for teams and scores. No first and x to go. Ball on x yard line, etc. But, I can deal with that.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I am a big fan of football in general but the game was very boring and we left early. Also, found the revving of the motorcycle engines over and over to be way too loud in such a confined space. The little kids play during halftime was pretty entertaining. The announcer telling us the place was a volcano and it was time to errupt over and over, sometimes back to back, was pretty annoying. Also, they certainly need a new girl, someone who understands the game to do the commentary. "Nice Pass"

We appreciate any and all suggestions that you guys have. We are new and we are still working out the kinks. Most of the time we are running around with our heads cut off during the games so we aren't able to pinpoint problem areas as easily.
Please know that we are addressing all our shortcomings and are really hoping to improve before the April 8th game. We want to succeed so we do welcome any and all advice you have for us. Just let us know if things get better or worse and we'll address those issues as best we can.
Also, thanks for coming out! Though your experience may not have been ideal, our guys really appreciate the support!

Thanks for replying and understanding. Look at it as constructive criticism, but just a little more blunt :) As said before, everyone wants it to succeed and we all understand that it is still new to everybody there.
Looking forward to my second visit on the 8th, and to sitting behind the LAW dancers :)

I would be careful having the motorcycles drive on the field when the other team is already out there warming up. The motorcycles had to weave around the players. All it will take is a little accident and a player gets injured to have a lawsuit on your hands.

Went to our 2nd game and thre was much more energy and improvements. For one - I wasn't having a blasting headache afterwards from the announcer screaming - that was much better! The crowd was still on the small side but much more into the game. It still seemed that the game was too long. Started at 7:30 and wasn't over until 10:45. I think what they do at the hockey games with the blimps dropping the coupons would be good too - people get so excited about that.
I didn't like seeing all the kids leaning over the padded walls - pulling on the ropes of the goal posts and just doing what they wanted. I seen an usher try to get them to move away from the wall but they needed a stronger presence to get them to do as they were being told.
We plan to go to game #3 - and hope it has a bigger crowd! How about promoting a Father & Son Night - those always seem to attract a crowd:)

Couldn't agree more. Again, from all the stoppage of play and what seemed like an unlimited number of timeouts.
When we got out, we tried to get food at three different restaurants, but nobody was still serving food and had a bar. So we ended going to Splitsville and eating off their late night menu

We went to the playoff game Sunday and it seems like all the kinks have been worked out since the first couple of games. The announcer is different and the game goes by much faster, not as many stops and starts. I hope everyone gives them another try next season.

It's like anything else new, it takes a little time to get the flow down right and now they have it. I would have loved to have gone on Sunday but already had plans for Fathers Day. Glad to see the team be successful this season and hope it continues through the playoffs!

GO WRANGLERS....I'm a season ticket owner and we have been lovin the games. Only missed 2 home games the entire time. Thank goodness they replaced the announcer, much better. We have our 2nd home playoff game on Saturday 7/9/11 - it should be very exciting!!!!! You will be able to hear me, we sit about middle of the rows right behind the team - I am usually the loudest person, you can't miss me.
GO WRANGLERS! What a super first season.....love my WRANGLERS...come on out and show your support - its super FUN!

We went to game last night. The team did very well this year. Good start for the franchise.
However, we paid full price but sat next to a family that received free tickets thru the ASA.
What's the deal? How many free tickets were handed out?
Something's not right.

At any sporting event there are usually free tickets given out by some organization. Not sure where you were sitting but usually the seats that come along with free tickets aren't exactly in the prime locations but when attendance for an event is low, you can basically sit anywhere. Wouldn't get too mad about this one.

True, but that's the only place where I can afford to sit. I can't afford the "good seats" along the side.

Not true. They have ticket watchers at all the tunnels. I think they should let you sit anywhere as long as you are not in someone else's seat.

Lucky for you guys you were there. I was unable to make that game, but from what I heard it didn't seem like the team played like that had.
Was there any "cool plays"? Usually Chase ends up over the wall, or Fellows slams someone.
I hate to see the end of the road for this team, they did so well for a first year team. What's the word for next season???
I sure hope they all come back and do it again, it was awesome to watch. I brought some friends to a few games and they loved it. Where is the rest of the community? Honestly I believe the prices have a lot to do with it.
