Can anyone recommend a reputable digital camera repair shop? I have a Nikon D80. Every time I turn it on and take a photo, the first one always shoots all black.
I have had impressions with with Camera Stop (Dallas), Competitive Camera (Plano) and Wolf Camera (Plano) but all were a long time ago. Not sure who is the best to go to for repairs.
Thank you, in advance.

You might consider checking the Nikon website and sending it to them to be serviced. They may send it there anyway. That's what I've done when my Canon needed to be serviced after someone dropped it.
I don't have any experience dealing with the places that you mentioned.

Yes, by all means, send it directly to Nikon. It will be the fastest turn-around and done by factory-trained techs. They'll give you an estimate for repair upon receipt - and you will get to determine whether it is cost-effective to have it repaired - or maybe it's time to upgrade :-)
This is from a former camera shop owner...

Thank you both - I did not think of this.

I know I'm way late in responding- did you send it to Nikon? My daughter's Nikon was not working properly and we sent it to Nikon even though it was out of warranty. They fixed it quick and it cost about $100 to have them fix it and ship it back
