For decades, football players have been honored for their bravery. They are esteemed athletes, praised for the strength, bravery and stamina they display daily. In a class above others, football players are recognized for their sacrifice for their sport, their courage to face opponents head-on and their ability to get back up after being knocked down time and time again. While this may be true, the Allen Wranglers realize that the strength, bravery and stamina they display on a daily basis is far from that of every day citizens. As a team, we recognize that the opponents we face on the other side of the yard line fail in comparison to the opponents and the battles others face every day. For that reason, the Wranglers would like to take a minute to honor individuals who face a much scarier opponent than ever we will. Individuals who fight every day, who persist every day, who display much more strength, bravery, and stamina than our team will ever know. Individuals affected by cancer are invited to attend the April 23rd Wranglers game as we honor the individuals who display far more courage than our team. We would like to take a moment to cheer you on in the face of your opponent, to clap when you seen progress and to pray with you when you do not. We would like to honor the individuals who show us what courage really is, who teach us every day what it really means to sacrifice, to face the opposition and to get back up after being knocked down time and time again. Join us at 5 p.m. on April 23rd at Allen Event Center as we honor those of you who have defeated your opponent, and remember the courageous fight of those who did not. A balloon ceremony will take place before the Wranglers game outside of Allen Event Center. Participants in the balloon ceremony will also be asked to lead the Wranglers onto the field before they kickoff against the Wichita Wild at 7:35 p.m.
Please join us in reaching out to the community and inviting individuals who have been affected by this awful disease. A portion of ticket sales for the game will be donated back to the American Cancer Society. Pink jerseys worn by the Wranglers during the game will also be available in a silent auction. Bids for jerseys start at $50.
