Kroger had a one day only sale on wild caught Salmon for .99/lb so I took the bait and bought 4lbs. I have seen better looking salmon but, for .99/lb I thought it was worth the risk. I like the taste of wood plank and smoked salmon but prefer the smoke flavor. I bought some lemon/dill stuff in a bottle and some cajun powder spice (Chef something or the other, I forget) Anyway, need some Ideas on how to smoke/grill it. Any good recipes out there?

We frequently use this recipe and it has been a big winner with any of our dinner guests.
Maple Teriyaki Salmon Recipe
Make sure you use 100% apple juice located in the refrigerated section, not the watered down "from concentrate juice". Also use real maple syrup, not imitation "maple flavored" syrup.
Using real products makes a huge difference in flavor and quality.
I make this on the grill, not under the broiler, which also adds nice grill marks and flavor.
Enjoy!

Low Gear,
That does sound good. I have other recipes that I use maple syrup, soy sauce, apple juice and even honey in (although not all in the same recipe). Why is it called "Maple Teriyaki recipe" when it has Soy sauce?

I don't know and asked myself the same question the first time I made this.
It sure is tasty though. Give it a try.

We love salmon at least once a week. We usually get ours from Sams. We parcel it out and freeze mini packets for two. Marinate it in a simple Teriyaki with maybe some herb like Tarragon(small pinch). Most of the time I will blacken it in a cast iron skillet with some blackening spice, on the stove.
Outside, we use a grilling pan with holes and grill salmon along with shrimp. Use Obay and some Cajun seasoning. Had some last weekend along with ears of corn.
I've grown the tarragon and dried it. I think I have enough for the decade. The plant is alive and well and ready for another harvest.

I went to a Japanese restaurant once and ordered miso salmon. Ever since then that's the only way I want my salmon cooked (I say cooked because I still love to eat salmon sushi).
Anyways, I found a recipe for miso salmon by Bobby Flay several years ago on the Food Network's website. The recipe has instructions for grilling, but I've tried pan frying, and that works great too.

I too prefer salmon bbq'd on a cedar plank, but for some additional flavor, try SoyVey Very Teriyaki. In my opinion, it's the absolute best store bought Teriyaki. There are several recipes online for making your own. I recommend using more garlic than most recipes call for. Another great choice is to drizzle or brush on a layer of Hoisin sauce. It's a popular Asian bbq sauce.
