I couldn't disagree more. It was just slightly less annoying than the blair witch project.

Ew, Blair Witch Project? Horrible movie, great idea and great advertising but horrible end product.

I don't see how either movie can be comparable to each other...not even close. Super 8 reminded me of the Sandlot. A bunch of kids, each with their own personality but instead of a big dog holding onto their baseball, it's an alien.

I wasn't so much as comparing the movies directly as I was using the blair witch as an example to express my disappointment in supper 8. I was really expecting a much much better movie.
The plot concept was ok, but some of the plot devices and scenes were illogical to the point of being stupid. Seriously, who tries to stop a speeding locomotive with a pickup? Even stupid teens know to run away from (ie perpendicular not parallel to and toward) the train when there are rail cars flying off the tracks. The script really dragged when there wasn't any action. The main characters were so irritating because they were talking over each other so much that I couldn't tell what any of them were saying.
I do have to say that the special effects were good.
