As I was preparing for yet another trip to the shooting range, the thought crossed my mind that Allen needs a Gun Club. To this end, I wanted to see what interest there would be to starting a gun club in Allen, TX??
Meeting once a month with a specific topic
Get togther and compare stories, ideas or just talk about guns.
Have instruction for new gun owners, or prospective gun owners. If you are intersted, I would love to hear from you. If we have enough interest, I may look to start one. Let me know.

Been a long time since there was one nearby. I've already been thinking of a range idea myself. Could tie in well if it ever materialized?

I haven't been shooting in a long time. I used to go to collin county gun range before it got sold (shut down), and then used to go to a little backyard range called Ralph's Range about 15 miles north, which ended up getting shut down to the public because of irresponsible people. I don't like shooting at indoor ranges, like travelling long distances just to deal with ranges run by wannabe commandos. I would certainly be open to starting a club and putting in money to buy land that could be used for the purpose. Just never found enough people that were serious enough when it came down to putting down the money.

There is a brand new gun accessory shop that opened up next door to our business that might be interested in hosting a place for the meetings. It is on the corner of Greenville and McDermott/Main behind the KFC.

Interesting! There used to be a gun shop on Greenville years ago, but he moved to Princeton.

Is this an adult only thing? My oldest son (17) is in scouts and enjoys shooting rifle and pistol with the Venture Crew. He even won first place in rifle shooting at summer camp a couple years ago. My husband would probably be interested if our son was able to attend.

Great question! I didn't start the thread, but the ideas I've been working on would be for all ages of humans. But I'm not getting far yet with my own visions of this. We'll see where the Topic goes.

He got his NRA certification when he did the pistol shooting. He had to attend classes taught by a certified NRA instructor before they went out to shoot the pistols. Then if they did anything they weren't supposed to do on the range, they were done. All the boys followed all the rules and had a good time shooting targets.
When he starting shooting rifle in Boy Scouts at summer camp he was aiming with his right eye because he is right handed. He figured out (a suggestion from one of the leaders) he should be using his left eye to aim. His shooting greatly improved after that.

I'd be interested in frequenting an Allen-located shooting range. The closest one I know of is the Bullet Trap in Plano and I won't go there again. So, I'd love to visit one in Allen!

I bought a place in the sticks a few years ago because I don't like public ranges. The land is there you just have to look for the price you are willing to pay.

My sons and I would be members in a heartbeat ! I also have about 5 friends that go out to Garland that would also join up on the spot.
Keep us in the loop if this thing ever comes about !

Either one really. An outside site would be less expensive. I'm not sure if there is a site in town that would allow an outside site.(Noise, and a clear firing area.)

No, I was talking about the Garland sites. There is no place in Allen for this, kinda like fireworks.

I would be interested in this as well. My 15 y.o. step daughter has expressed interest in learning how to shoot too.
